Wave 3 is garbage: good time to rage-quit?

By dmgcontrol, in Star Wars: Armada

I've heard a bit about rage quitting and Armada lately? Why would anyone want to play any game by GW?

Because they do have games that are a lot of fun with good designed and manufactiured miniatures in a great background?

In most cases that's past tense. I will never forgive them for Fantasy. After years of neglect, they opted to nuke the most developed fantasy universe out there in favor of Space Marine wannabes. Sadly, they neglected and ruined most of their other games. Blood Bowl and BFG come to mind as great games that they didn't support. The only thing they really have left is the 40k universe. It remains a great universe with some wonderful Black Library stories, but they continue to run the game's rules into the ground.

That's sort of how I feel about them, other than they are just overcharging for meh products and too many rule books.

There's the information about the return of Specialist Games in the future by GW but that just means, based upon the last few "board" games they released, more overly expensive games and rule systems that might put those systems into the grave again. Oh, and lack of support aside from forcing people to constantly buy new books with 2~4 pages of new rules.

Rage quitting. I do this on Battlefront. Why not? But I only RQ when the aimbots come out and a guy has 45 kills before the match has even started. What I don't do is announce it to the world. I second the notion of do it don't make it public. For every Wave Three Sucks thread you can count on at least one rambling nonsensical response from yours truly. I promise. And I'm good at them too. I can ramble like it's nobody's business. I can. Ask my wife. She'll tell you. She will. She'll be "ya, he don't shaddup." She will. I swear.

Okay. Back to the serious stuff. Wave 3 has promise GW us still an enigma (despite being a player/follower since the 80s) and now that I have Gozantis and Transports I'd like to see a Ghost and a Lamb please.

Ghost and a Lamb please.

All this hurt makes me sad... First they can't release ships fast enough, now people just want other ship! Reminds me of the saying "can't have your cake and eat it too!".

But if you really want to get away from Armada that badly over something as silly as the lack of more Wave 3 ships, maybe you should!

Here's my last bit to add.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/X-Wing_Miniatures_Game

Look at the release dates and announcement dates for all the X-Wing products and then look at Armada's releases over the last nine months and come back and tell me again how Armada is being ignored.

I was a big X-Wing player from the first releases and the idea that X-Wing got more attention in the first year than Armada is straight up BS! Stop looking at other games with rose tinted glasses and bring the facts about how FFG is ignoring Armada.

Then keep in mind the shipping nightmare that was the shipping strike the sudden addition that Disney made FFG do that was the new starter box for X-Wing that screwed up all of FFG's productions over seas all while remaining one of the fastest growing games in the Miniature Games industry. It's been out for 9 months and it is the third best selling miniatures game. X-Wing took longer than that.

Seriously people stop and look at the Facts rationally instead of making knee jerking hyperbole remarks about how you are being ignored. And if you think you are being ignored this must be your first miniatures game because FFG is more on the ball than any other system I've played.

So I've been sitting around this last year painting my Old Republic Shapeways ships, and recently I've been waiting to be sure the Venator doesn't get a model this upcoming Wave 3 so I can buy some more from Shapeways. But Wave 3 is basically nothing? And I waited a year for that?

Battlefleet Gothic Armada comes out in a matter of days, and in the few hours I've played it it has been extremely fun. While Star Wars Armada, being the 3rd best selling miniature game, gets jack?

Why should one keep playing a game that has no releases?

Is there still an expectation of the rest of wave 3 being revealed within the next week or two? I want to believe.

Now about that BFG: Armada...

Shameless plug time!

I'm really active in this community because it combines what I like most: RTS + 40K + Space naval battles!

I've seen your last battle as Chaos. Looking good! Can't really tell how much that mouse / tab / hotkey spam helps you, but it was interesting to watch.

I played 40k way back in the early 90's when it was 40k Rogue Trader. When the first realms of chaos was released. That was a game, and there was pretty much zero support. I tried the newer version back in 2008 and it really kinda sucked compared to the old game. Where this ties to Armada is you guys reminded me of what is was like when your local store might get 5 lead miniatures and a set of plastic models every couple of months. Looking back at that wave three rocks.

Ghost and a Lamb please.

You so baaaad.

And yeah, this is tons better than Doom and Gloom Inc. :)

Amen to that.

I am looking forwards to playing these.

I note that the repair crews will work with as little as a token, so they can be applied to make a huge nuisance of themselves. Perhaps enough that folks will endeavor to kill them as fast as possible.

Yeah, 20-30 points might be worth one or two critically-timed Critical-Effect removals on a big ship...

I was thinking of Tarkin or Gam bel Iblis driving the tokens.

Wulf would be funny too, chuck him in a Gozani and watch him take off like the energizer bunny.

Is it really rage quitting? Rage quitting is three things: angry, sudden and quitting. If it goes on and on and on, it's not sudden, and if it doesn't result in actually leaving it's not quitting, so really all it is is anger. And you know what they say about anger.

Apparently, I have to buy a new iPad to play that game.

I'll stick to World of Tanks: Blitz for the time being then.

Its a secondary emotion?

Ugh. Here we go again. If you want to quit a social tabletop game for a computer game, go for it. If BFG does get released again, I think I will just buy ships and put them on armada bases, this rule set works far better than BFG's ever did (and BFG was my favorite GW game ever.

In fact, GW should either license the armada rule set for a new BFG or just give up and let FFG do it. In fact they should just negotiate a license deal to have FFG do everything for them. I think the guys in Minnesota have proved time and again that they do GW games better than GW...

I really, really like the Armada ruleset. But the Gothic ruleset is also very good. Different, but not worse. It even has things that are better than Armada. Armada on the other hand has the simpler and more user friendly ruleset.

I also dont see FFG doing something like Warhammer 40k in a quality GW does. I think FFG is doing a great job on their games, but GW did better with 40k than FFG with Dust.

So if anyone needs an address to mail the ships before their plan to burn them becomes a reality, I can provide one.

Just a thought.

But shipping cost would be much less AFTER burning. It's just common sense.

what's the going rate on bulk plastic these days?

Gozanti Tarkin?

Gozanti Tarkin?

You can always run Redemption + Nebulon-Bs+Engineering Teams with GR75 Transports with Repair Crews. Not as consistent as Tarkin, But Garm drops a pair of repair bombs on the fleet throughout the game and your ships just go nuts. Can also be augmented with Raymus + Tantive IV throwing out a pair of Engineering tokens every turn.

Engineering tokens on Nebulons: 4 engineering points

Engineering tokens on Transports: 1 damage card repaired

It's a silly fleet, mind you. It would just be fun to run once for the pure jank involved.
