The last part there "(or a <kaboom> result if your primary weapon value is three or higher)."

This does not trigger if you are firing ordnance at range 1 and your primary is 2 as you have to perform the primary attack to get the addition attack die yeah? Had a disagreement with another guy about this yesterday and I'm positive I am reading it correctly in that your attack value must be 3 without a range bonus. For example; you could Jan Ors pilot/expose to raise your printed value to a three and achieve it that way but not via range bonus.

EDIT: Disregard mention of Jan Ors in the above example. I did not remember the wording as well as I thought I did and the phrasing does not raise your primary attack value.

You are so close. If you just delete the words "Jan Ors" then you are right. She adds a die during the attack, a different thing than upping primary like expose.

You're right. The Primary attack value is what's printed on your card. Range bonuses are just that - bonuses.

The condition only applies if the PRINTED attack value is three or higher. Jan Ors or being at range 1 of the target only adds a dice, it does not increase the primary weapon value.

You're right buddy.

Just because I'm rolling three dice at range one with a ship with only two attack does not change the printed value on the card. Goodness bless your opponent, but I believe what he was doing there was grasping at straws.

Ah whoops  forgot the exact wording on Jan. Haha that's what I get for not double checking.

He doesn't have an amazing grasp on the rules yet and I can see where one could get to that conclusion but there just isn't a trigger there for it.

The card reads Primary Weapon Value... So yes, your range modifier at range 1 does not factor in this, nor does Jan Ors adding an attack die.

However, a few of those answering here have referenced "printed" attack value and that is not correct either. For instance, the Punishing One title increases primary weapon value by one. This would very much factor with Guidance Chips despite the "printed" value on the Jumpmaster only showing 2.

Where the hell you got this "printed" from? There is nothing about it. It had to be primary value 3 or more. So anything that raises your primary (expose, JM title) counts. True about Jan and range as they dont raise your primary, just lets you roll bonus dice.

Yep. Expose would indeed combo with Chimps in that way, but it strikes me as a MASSIVE non-starter to actually bother, given that you're paying four points and two slots to turn one hit into one crit on one discardable attack, and ending up with an EPT which is... well, terrible.

Bonus dice for whatever reason (Zuckuss pilot, Jan, etc) wouldn't make the difference though. Only a thing which increases your primary weapon value would, and those are few and far between.

Right was just using the example.

Expose - Yes - "Action: Until the end of the round, increase your primary weapon value by 1 and decrease your agility value by 1."
Punishing One title - Yes - "Increase your primary weapon value by 1."

Anything else - No
Pilot Jan - "...to allow that ship to roll 1 additional attack die."

Range One - "When resolving a primary weapon attack ... At Range 1, the attacker rolls one additional attack die during the “Roll Attack Dice” step."

raise your printed value

You can't raise your printed value without editing the card itself, so anything that refers to that is unchangeable.

As for primary weapon value, bonus dice don't count as increasing it. I believe Expose is the only card that can.
