Boba Fett Question and Minefield OBJ clarificaiton

By klyver, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

First off please help me figure out Boba Fett and his ability. I searched the forum but could not find an answer.

I understand that Boba Fett can activate and do one damage to a fighter or a ship. Fighter damage is easy but how is ship damage dealt?

Is it

1. One straight up facedown damage card to said ship OR

2. Is it one damage to a shield zone that is in range of Boba Fett? If its more than one shield zone, can the player controlling Fett pick which zone loses one shield?

Minefields: I've seen this before on the forum but really wish FFG would FAQ it....minefields do not do anything to Squadrons correct? I could park 8 squadrons around minefields and they do not cause the mines to detonate right?

Actually one last question.....just to clarify again......Rhymer uses the close to medium SHIP ruler to measure his and his allies anti ship attacks (basically yeah you don't use the squadron ruler....you use the ship ruler with him).

Thanks for the patience but all 3 of these came up locally and I answered them except Fett........that one I'm not so sure....

On the Boba Fett question, the damage goes on the shields if there are any, facedown card if there are no shields. In the case of the ship, the controlling (Fett) player chooses the hull zone closest. (Not sure on this one, help me out on this one Dras.)

Correct, minefields do not do anything to the squads. The card only references ships.

And yes, Rhymer uses the ship ruler for medium range on attacks.

ianediger, thanks for the reply, that cleared up some of our local player questions. I was really hoping for more card clarifications in the latest FAQ update...

You're almost correct:

Boba Fett does 1 point of Damage. Not a Damage Card (neccessarily), just 1 point of Damage.

Because the defending hull zone is not specified, the defending player simply chooses the hull zone. This is almost the same as when a Ship runs into a Debris Field. The Ship is dealt 2 damage, but its defending hull zone is not specified, so it can go anywhere .

Which can mean that 1 point of damage can be dealt anywhere on the ship - including on the fully shielded zone on the far side of the ship to Boba.

Only if the Defending Player chooses a hull zone where there are no shields, will Boba's free damage result in a face down Damage card.

But you wouldn't do that if you were a defender, unless you had some super secret sneaky reason.

Dras, thanks for the clarification,

One question came to me as I was squad building today, does Dengar (punishing one) when he adds a counter to any fighter, do I get to choose the color of the dice (this is for ships that don't even have counter such as a TIE Bomber) where does it say that counter fire has to be blue dice? Could Vader use black dice?

Counter is Blue Dice.

It says so under the Squadron Keyword Description for Counter.

(The Squadron attacks back with an amount of blue dice equal to its counter value)

Got it thanks, that clears up a lot for those of us in Kansas

You're in Kansas? Where are you at?

Out in the Manhattan area. We've got about 8 local armada players that attend events

I'm in the Salina area and I'm the only one here. I need a reason to go to the main campus now...

You guys should get a Room.

Preferably a Gaming Room.

In or Nearby to a Bar. So you can Drink and Play.

Easy there Dras, I'm still underage ;)

Dras, your new avatar Displeases me

I don't mind the avatar. It's the CHANGE of avatar. I had always looked to the previous one for the correct answers! (From the rules guru - whether he says so or not.)

ianediger - i'll be at the village geek this weekend for the xwing store championship, look at the manhattan gamers, manhattan xwing, and/or manhattan boom comics events Facebook pages for events on Armada, Xwing, Imperial Assault, and the star wars lcg. We already had our store championship for armada, but are you going to go to regionals in Kansas city for armada next month?

Can't manage either, I'm afraid. I've got family business this weekend down in Mac, and my schedule here in college allows for Vassal, and that's about it.
