Just curious if any consensus was reached with a stay on target Wedge with targeting astromech (and IA obviously)
Most people go for the BB-8 Combo hour these days I was just curious if Target Wedge is a viable list these days
(even if Targeting Astromech's best friend is still hobbie lol)
Stay On Target Wedge?
Hadn't thought of SoT/Targeting Astro.
TBH that's probably a better combo than BB-8 given Wedge's very limited greens.

I had not thought of this combo on him. I like it.
Oh that sounds cool. when You need stress, it's nice to have options to get it other than PTL. also, I have never tried that card, really should.
Maybe paired with a B-Wing/E2 with Kanan?
It's a neat combo, but without some way of removing the stress again you become incredibly predictable every other round.

Unless, unlike Keyan who uses SoT every round he can, you choose to only use it with Wedge when you are truly stumped on where your target(s) will end up.
Yes, but then you've invested points in an astromech and an EPT you're not using. At that point, you'd;ve been better off just taking Predator and BB8.
Well that's the thing: Wedge with even just a Focus or TL is pretty dangerous due to PS9 and his ability. SoT/TA is a fantastic combo and makes it such that the few times you need to radically readjust your manoeuvre you have an attack modification.
I've done the SoT/TA/IA combo on Poe before and while the T-70 dial is much better suited to SoT I feel it's pretty strong, and would be all the better with PS9.
no focus + TL after a red maneuver leaves you at the mercy of the merciless dice

99 points. I know everyone screams VI on Poe, but IMO Cool Hand is a good use, as you can still get his focus when needed. Don't remember when VI would have made a difference for me, but YMMV.

Stay on Target is not an EPT you want to use. It's an EPT you use if you need to. Often you'll find that you've already chosen the right maneuver, but when you've not, SoT is there to help you out. White/green + target lock when you can, SoT + Astromech when you can't. BB-8 and Predator might be better in some sitations, but SoT let's you choose a wider variety of moves, such as turns.
The choice between SoT-TA Wedge and PtL/Pred-BB8 Wedge is whether you want more consistent hits or more powerful hits but not as easy
Edit: I thought I saw this a while back when TA first was announced
Edited by TailsgodSomething to play around with. One thing you can do: dial in a 4 straight, and then use Stay On Target to flip it to a 4 k turn if you want to, and generate a target lock token.
(though I still think BB-8/PTL/Engine Upgrade Wedge is the way to go).
It's a neat combo, but without some way of removing the stress again you become incredibly predictable every other round.
Not at all (imho), the X-Wing has literally only the K-turn on red, outside of that, everything is still open to you. At the 'small' price of no action. But I totally agree that the combination is a good amount more interesting if you add Jarrus. Wedge has otherwise a hard time to make use of his PS9.
That wasn't my point at all. When you use Stay On Target, you're super unpredictable.
Then you're stressed, so you can't use it again, and if you want to take any actions, you need to use one of your four green moves to clear the stress...
I prefer BB-8 Wedge, as it doesn't effect his action economy, though I suspect that SOT Wedge still gets to use R2-D2...
Well this combo here suggest to use Targeting Astro, which means you have a good chance to indeed stay on target thanks to SoT and ps9, while getting at least 3d + TL. A solid attack at the price of potentially an action or being predictable next turn. It for sure has a bad action economy, but at the same time it can save you a lot of actions and upgrades on reposition actions, not to speak of upgrades on that. Personally I would prefer on wedge upgrades like bb8, engine upgrade or even export handling. And it for sure would help a lot of you have wingman or Jarrus on someone in your squat. PTL and SOT come both with the problem that Wedge lacks greens to clear the stress. Maybe that is the real thing X-Wings lack right now, a pilot who can clear stress of other X-Wings to enable the rest of his squad.
It for sure has a bad action economy
I'm not even sure about that.
Yeah, he only gets 1 action per round, but he's likely to get it every round, while keeping the insanity of Stay on Target on point (which is worth more than a Boost or Barrel-Roll action, I'd say).
If he had a way to shed the stress without using a Green maneuver, he'd be even better ![]()
I think SoT Wedge could actually be very smart. You arent going to use it every time its available. But if your opponent does a maneuver you werent expecting, and SoT either puts wedge in range 1, or out of arc, or BOTH it could be extremely valuable. Plus, just having it available makes your opponent pretty much give up trying to block you. BB8 is nice because Wedge cant really be blocked either, but as long as the enemy is at range 2 in your arc, they probably have a shot on you. SoT could get you to safety. I wouldn't put SoT on any Xwing, but range 1 attack with Wedge + TL is just nasty. I may have to try it this week
I like it! If you could work in a ship that can carry Wingman and keep near Wedge you could pull the combo off multiple turns in a row.

He gets stay on target every second round IF he does a green every second round. 1 Action per round average, but as well 0.5 greens per round on a ship which has only 4 green moves (banks at 1, and straights as 1&2). That gotta hurt you.
You can also throw in some other type of Rebel action sharing friend to help him out. There is always Garven Dreis, Dutch, Kyle Katarn, Airen Cracken, or a number of other people I'm sure I'm forgetting.
I think it's a clever thing to do and you don't make yourself predictable.
Edited by heychadwickYou don't use SoT every round. You only use it when you need to change your move or when K-turning. Against a lower PS arc-dodger this is probably going to be quite a lot, but it stops it from dodging you.
It's like a much more powerful version of Imperial Boba at the cost of stress (but you still get an action thanks to Targeting Astro).
There's also a SoT/BB-8 combo as the two effects can stack on a green move. You can also use SoT normally and BB-8 normally, so Wedge is much more maneuverable. The problem is that if you fire SoT you're actionless, so the penalty is much higher than with Targeting Astromech.
Messing around with Squad Builder. Might try this on Wednesday if I have time:
Wedge + SoT + TA + Fletchette Torps ( to stress aces after a SoT) + IA
Vrill + Tractor Beam + Kanan (beam helps roll stresshogs, TLT Y's etc onto Asteroids to protect Wedge. Thinking opening attack from range 2-3. Kanan lets Wedge do whites to remove stress)
29pts leftover
Stresshog + Thermal Dets = 29pts (Helps Vrill get his 3 primary), 2pt initiative dropping Fletchette from Wedge
Jake + PTL + VI ( can also take advantage of Kanan) = 28pts, 1pt initiative build or 2 if you drop Tractor Beam from Vrill.
