The Inquisitor, 2 Siener Pilots, and Captain Jonus

By ElitePilot, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Similar to the list presented in the "Hunted by the Inquisitor" article, i ran this list today at our LGS's 'Casual Sunday'. I was excited to try out the inquisitor but i also wanted to try out the low end guys to see how they felt. I made a couple changes.

100 pts

The Inquisitor

Push the Limit, Autothrusters, Tie/v1, cluster missles

2xSienar Test Pilots

Tie/V1, cluster missles, and guidance chips

Captain Jonus

1 Xx23 s-Thread Tracers, guidance chips

Was fun. 1st game i flew horribly and lost (and had concussion/didnt like). 2nd and 3rd game i flew well, but my opponents rolled really bad. 2nd game I managed to take out a ywing with tlt on 3rd round(1st firing) and 2nd game i took out a Firespray on 3rd round as well (2nd round firing). I like the idea of the long range concussion, and a 4 die attack. But cluster was pretty awesome.

Why not just use Bombers instead of the STP's? I feel like Jonus is a bit of a waste with only one shot.

Anyway, I would go for a Procket on the Inquisitor instead. I wouldn't keep the Inquisitor tied to Jonus to get his munition off.

Well i wanted to try out the lower end pilots and i do like their dial vs the bomber dial. Shields and the Tiev1 title is nifty. 1st round of fighting nets each Tie a focus token, an evade token, a Target lock, 2 rerolls from jonus, and 1 Modify from chips.

So its all for that first shot. i agree, after the first volley it lacks punch, but the idea being that you took something off the board. I actually did have procket the 1st game, forgot to mention, but i just wanted to try out clusters. Again with cluster, at least im getting 2 shots worth of rerolls. The inquisitor can break off if need be for sure, or start on the other side if you want. Jonus is there so everyone hits.

I havent had a lot of luck with bombers, though i havent flown them 'that' much. They just felt clunky everytime. 2 agi and no shields=ouch. Especially in the TLT environment.

I was thinking about lists inspired by the "Hunted" article too. I wanted to use something like the Inquisitor, Sienar Test pilot, and two bombers. I am trying to find ways to use ordinance better, and guidance chips might help. I'm keeping an eye on the upcoming Veterans box too. Thanks for posting, and update as you see fit. I would like to know your experiences.
