Defeat IG-2000

By lo742, in X-Wing

I was wondering if anyone had some good ideas for Empire side to defeat IG-2000's in a 100pt game.

Besides just ship's, any particular upgrades or talents?

Thanks

A Doominator/Punisher build tore my Brobots up pretty good yesterday. Vader tossing out damage cards while he tears into the Decimator's 16 shields/hull, and the Punisher lobbing ordnance with Extra Munitions.

Last night while introducing someone to the game, my buddy used A and C Brobots, while the new guy literally picked the models he liked and I built him a list of a TLT+Proxy Mine K-wing, two Blue Squad B-wings, and a Generic T70.

Admittedly, my buddy made some critical mistakes with his Brobots and got juked by the B-wings since the new guy didnt really know how to fly them too well (One Bwing spent 3 turns bumping into the same asteroid) which threw him off, but I was impressed by the simple list in the hands of a new player.

I've had decent success with palpatine and a pair of aces. When flying agenst Brooks you almost always want to target b first. His gunner ability with a hlc is tough

Omega Leader (with Juke + Com Relay) is your man!

HIgher PS `anythings` that hit hard.

prockets vader.....carnor jax and soontir fel are some places to think about moving to.

How's a rebel list going to help someone trying to build an Empire list? :P

Phantoms, OL, Soontir, Crackshot swarm. There's plenty of options. The trick is flying them. They want to joust, but you won't. Either block them up to deny actions, or get behind them completely and stick to their ass like they sat on gum.

Au contraire, OL hates Brobots, because HLCs are his worst enemy.

But basically, out-pilot-skill them, dodge them, kill them at close range. They're aces, you're the aces faction, out-ace them, one way or another..

I've had good results from gunner/Vader Chiraneau and whisper against brobots.

Defenders even pre vets have no issues out turning aggressors and once they are locked into stressing themselves to turn around you have em.

I really like Whipser, and she's really good against them.

I've seen procket Juno / Vader one-shot Brobots (with Palpatine support).

basically literally made this list to kill brobots (and palp aces)

Deathrain (Accuracy Corrector, Seismics, Conners, Munitions) [38]

Typical Vader [35]

Typical Omega Leader [26]

alright, so IGs (and palp aces) detest conners. Conners completely **** over their movement options and, in the particular case of the IGs, will utterly screw over their gameplan

observe

this aggressor is now locked into a white forward. because of stress, he will do nothing else the following turn. The turn after that, he'll have to clear stress. The turn AFTER THAT, he can start coming back into the fight, but will have displaced so much distance that it'll take a few turns

Vader's there because Vader

Omega Leader is unique capable of smacking thruster defended ace-type ships, despite being only 26 points. Amazing little ship

Any named Decimator + Predator + Gunner + Rebel Captive + Another Crew + Engine has it good vs IG88, though I prefer Oicunn for ramming and blocking capabilities. Rebel Captive makes their life very difficult, and Predator + Gunner means you still have good odds to hit them out of arc.

Pairing that with an Imperial Ace is usually your best bet, so you can still arc dodge and win a 1v1 end game if things go sour too quickly for your Decimator.

PS8+ aces, anything with Rebel Captive.

Captive is Crab's bane. because poor IG requires K-turning or S-looping often

He shuts down everything but his gunner ability... brought Predator, Sensor Jammer, Thrusters, Stims? Tough bloody cookies, you can't use anything so prepare to be pecked to death if you can't get him in arc.

Do you have balls? 4 x Homing Missile + Seismic Charge + EM + Guidance Chips (or Long Range Scanners when we get those) ruin them pretty well.

Regen ships.

PS7+
stress control

conner nets

blockswarm

well, it's a miracle IG4000 is viable (It's borderline viable, but hey! A living jouster! Endangered species!)

Block their moves with Academy TIEs, then shoot them with the rest of your list.

Unless they have Sensor Jammers. Man....I hate sensor Jammers. Well, this was before Extra Munitions when I tried it. LRS will negate it as you will get a Focus.

I've found with Brobots, if you can cause them stress on the turn that they bait you, you can deal with them. Or maybe Ionize them at that wrong moment when they want to then either S-loop or turn and boost to get away. I always used Xizor with Flechette Torpedoes in the heyday of Brobots. Not much Imperials can take Torps.

Last time I faced them they tore through my TIE Fighters, but really struggled against Omega Leader, and could barely touch Whisper. 100-31 to me. Should think Fel and the 'quisitor would do pretty well too.

Solid list should do well against any Brobots lists

Whisper

Veteran instincts

Advanced cloak

Agent kallus

Fcs

Omega leader

Juke

Comm relay

Yorr

Emperor

Soontir Fel can solo Brobots, when used by a decent flyer and with a touch of luck.

Add Palpy somewhere (Deci or Lambda), and luck is less of an important factor.

OL needs to be flown carefully, but is still viable.
