Blocker Contracted Scout with munitions

By AEIllingworth, in X-Wing Squad Lists

The new hotness seems to be munitions croissants, but at the Byron MN store championship yesterday someone brought three blocker scouts, with intelligence agent, intimidation, anti-pursuit lasers, and maybe feedback array.

I didn't get to play him, but it really got me thinking. I flew a Mist Hunter with the title and used the tractor beam three times, each time sticking someone on an asteroid.

Putting these two things together, blocking focused scout with Adv. Proton torpedoes and another ship with tractor beam seems like it would really work well. Block a ship and then you have a chance to tractor them and barrel roll backwards slightly to the range one 5 dice torpedo.

Is this too complicated or expensive to pull off? I guess I'll be buying a JM5k to give it a try.

Sounds like it would be pretty difficult to pull off. But I like the idea. I never thought of blocking a target and then using TB to push them back so you can shoot them.

I finally got a chance to play around with a squad builder, and it is points heavy to make this work. The cheapest you could make the contracted scout is 33, with Deadeye, Advanced Proton Torpedoes, and the new Overclocked R4 (to modify all the focus results the torpedo gives you). It still desperately wants an Intelligence agent, and possibly extra munitions to give it the second try (and maybe inertial dampeners), bringing it to 37.

The cheapest Tractor beam that would fire before the scout is a Syck Tansarii Point Veteran with the title and tractor beam, at 20 points. For better stat line, a G-1A Ruthless Freelancer with title and Tractor Beam is 24.

That means the combo is going to be 53-61 points, depending on loadout. I want to try it, but I'm guessing it is too expensive to be super competitive.
