Can a U-boat fire its torpedoes outside of arc?

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

I was going to put this comment in the 3 scouts thread, but the conversation is really talking about something totally different now. Also it is like 13 page right now.

People are talking about great combos you can put on the Scout with deadeye and the agromech, but they seemed to be saying that you could fire those torpedoes at anyone in range 2-3? Did they mean anyone in arc, if so then sure, but losing the 360 firing with your toros seems a pretty high cost?

No. Torps in arc only.

But the JM5K has a turret primary weapon which can fire out of arc.

I thought you were asking about WWII German subs! That answer would br yes but in X-wing tha answer is no. Unfortunately.

U-boats had a rear firing arc in WW2 but they had to spend a focus token to use it.

Later in the war they developed "acrobatic" torpedoes. These could pull harder turns upon leaving the tubes.

The early german torpedoes were very acrobatic. The problem was that they tended to just loop back and hit the u-boat that fired them.

They cannot fire torpedoes out of their arc. They might as well be able to considering their white 2 Segnors and R4 Agromech TL's they can save for a red sloop/kturn.
