Giant Monster stats

By Hysteria, in Game Masters

I'm running a campaign, and at the climax the group is going to come face-to-face with a giant monster. specifically the Terror From Beyond ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lotek'k ). This thing is a massive monster, and I want its stats to reflect that.

I'm not entirely sure how to stat it out, though. I was considering making it planetary scale (since in the game it attacks with tentacles first from a distance), but I think that might make it too overpowered.

Has anyone tried to make stats for a creature like this? I'd want to dissuade my players from killing it directly, but I also want to have the option to fight it if they so choose. Of course, if they choose they're going to learn in about a round they made the wrong choice, but still...

Maybe a Star Destroyer?

Maybe not that big, but using vehicle stats would be a good idea to show exactly how massive the creature is. Keep in mind though, vehicles are very hard to damage using personal scale weapons, so unless the players have a ship or some rocket launchers handy, that beast isn't going down anytime soon. Silhouette of 3 or higher, and Adversary of at least 2

How do you want it to be encountered? If it's planetary scale, then the only way to face it in combat is with vehicles of your own. Even big beasites that are character scale get vaporized really fast against even the lightest planetary scale weapons (which can be mounted on something as small as a speeder bike or a Hutt's repulsor platform), so personal scale will make the thing very vulnerable to anyone with a vehicle. No great fixes here; this system has a glaring weakness in the scaling differences.

Just your typical double post. Nothing to see here. Move along.

I wasn't kidding, reskinning something terrifying and easily identifiable as Something You Should Not Mess With™ can be an easy solution. Give it 1 attack for every 2-3 enemies, call its banks of turbolasters "Laser Demon Eyes from Beyond" and call it good.

I read the wiki page and it was light on details, but surely there is a suitable way to replicate damage and effects -- after all, everything but the numbers is just a description easily changed....

In another topic, I posted stats for a Leviathan. I think this will suit your needs nicely. My players have gone up against 3 of these things now and they found it challenging and enjoyable.
