Lothal Twins

By Sonikgav, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Picked up this idea from a Facebook group. Not gonna lie, its not my idea, but id be lying if i said i wasnt tempted.

Lothal Rebel

- TLT

- Plasma Torpedo

- Fire Control System

- Recon Specialist

- Anti Pursuit Laser

Lothal Rebel

98 Point Total

Keep em spread out to cover each others R1 Vulnerability. Double Focus + FCS keeps the TLT as accurate as possible and the Torps are a nice surprise out of the back if needed. The APL's make people thing twice before diving in to R1 and lets you roadblock with those two big bases. The Plasma Torps are also one of the best opening shots against other VCX. Its slow damage but ALOT of Hit points to chew through.

Still 2 points spare so maybe Jan Ors on one or the other since Double Focus doesnt really help a 0 AG ship outside of the TLT, or maybe even a Rethink on the Recon Spec.

Neat.

I'd say Extra Munitions instead of APL..

I'd say Extra Munitions instead of APL..

Was thinking that but tbh, the Plasma's are fine as a one and done. Theyre not the most effective (though i could spend the extra points on Proton Torps) but i like the idea of APL in such a relatively low damage output list. It lets me just roadblock swarms for a few extra points of damage.

Id literally rather drop Recon Specialist than APL.

Could go..

Option 1

Lothal Rebel

- Plasma Torpedoes

- Extra Munitions

- TLT

- FCS

- APL

APL does mean i miss out on Guidance Chips but still doesnt seem like a bad plan, also makes it an even 50 points per ship.

Or.....Option 2

Lothal Rebel

- Proton Torpedoes

- Extra Munitions

- TLT

- FCS

- Guidance Chips

Decisions...

I think Proton Torps might be the way to go. With Plasma, you really want to set up the TL+Focus combo, which means either spending a turn on the TL first or getting it after shooting the TLT at something, in which case the target might already be down on shields before you even fire the Plasma at it. With Protons you don't have to get TL+F as badly, and they're actually even better if you've already knocked off some shields because you can land a crit to hull.

Ill just have to rely on covering each others fire arcs instead of APL.

If you get rid of APLs you can get Guidance Chips (0 cost) if you have them from purchasing other Wave 8 ships~ Them Protons pack quite a punch without a focus or TL - 1 result of your choice becomes a Crit and 1 eyeball result becomes a crit. So if you get the average of 2 hits, you usually guarantee yourself a nice 4 hits, of which at least 2 are crits.

Its kind of like the Jumpmaster 5k torpedo boats but without Deadeye.
