Just bought into Xwing

By Kerg12, in X-Wing

I just bought the original core set online on amazon and my friend bought the FA set any suggestions on what I should buy for a good squad?/fleet? I'll have the Xwing and the T-75 xwing. Thanks in advance!

At this point in the game's life cycle, virtually everything.

Yeah at this point buy what you like and stay the bleeps away from tournaments.

That is the exact opposite of what I suggest to new players. I get them to go to tournaments regardless of if they think they are ready. Hopefully your area has a good play group because tournaments turn into some of the best learning experiences for experienced or new players alike. Hell for our SC we had someone that had only played 3 games, afterwards he was pumped to play more, because of feedback from other players. Then again, this also can go the other way if the play environment isn't friendly.

Either way, the best advise has been given. Grab the aces boxes, then just which ever ships look cool. Use a squad builder to proxy stuff and see what you really wanna buy. Most players in a casual environment will be more then happy to allow the use of proxies upgrades.

A-Wing, K-Wing and Y-Wing.

A-Wing comes with Push the Limit and lots of Missiles.

K-Wing Comes with two TLTs and you'll have two turreted ships.

Y-Wing comes with lots of torpedoes and Dutch helps with target locks.

Seems to me like a quick, easy array of options for a beginner squad.

Good advice by everyone. And they all have more experience than I. Like the OP I too have only 1 of each Core Set. Although the Aces packs are frequently recommended, I have a slightly different strategy. I plan on buying 1 T-70 X wing Expansion Pack and 1 TIE/fo Expansion Pack. This will give me enough for very basic and less than ideal 100pt. lists for both Imp and Reb. I absolutely love Scum but am holding off to get at least a couple full lists flying before jumping into another faction. When I do though, I plan on at least 1 Most Wanted being the entry point.

That's true. If you pick up a TIE/fo pack you get the very playable Omega Leader (Comms/Juke) and Zeta Leader (Wired), and the T-70 expansion gives you a couple of decent pilot and the Integrated Astromech you want, especially for the T-65. The only problem here is that you'd ideally want three of them, or a couple of Autothrusters. ;)

If you see a ship, and go "aw that ship is SOO COOL! That is the ship you are looking for.

I too am just starting out and need to keep a grip on things without going crazy. I started with core pack and Tie advanced. It's cinematically correct and looked good on the table. Y wing and A wing round out the Rebels, I'm getting a Mist Hunter and a Scum Most Wanted next month. budget lol. But my goal is to get the ships I loved as a kid and build up all three factions together ship by ship. Loving this game. Found it a month ago and it's been soaking up a lot of thinking/planning time for sure. What fun.
