Addition of Boarding actions

We're good mate! Still friends. Until you pull up in a Pickle with little nasties. Then? Well. . .

lol No danger. I'm Imperial at heart. The idea of a galaxy united in purpose, united in peace, and equal freedoms for all sentient species is something I'm all for. Now granted, the first Emperor wasn't exactly on board with those ideals...but he can't last forever. Emperors come and go, but the Empire forever! ;)

I do confess, I kinda hope they find a way to bring it in as a unit. I would love to see little groups of 2 or 3 Imperial Storm Trooper transports huddled together on a fighter base scattered throughout my fleet.

Agreed. That would be spiffy. Stands to reason this would be largely an Imperial trick though desperate Rebels would likely act, well, desperately. Imagine spies! Omigosh. No! A mutiny! Crap! A bunch of Imperial deserters. That would be cool. Huh. What would the point cost for something like that be? shudder.

The below example is what we have been using in our games using some of the Armada Shipyards ideas. Essentially the ships size determines how difficult it is to board, and what it takes to remove it from play. Even though the mechanic is simple, the conditions are generally harder to achieve then we thought originally. We have only managed one successful boarding action that actually took a ship out of the game in over 20+ playtests.

Board: While attacking a ship, if the defending zone has no shields, you may spend a die with a (damage) icon to choose and discard a command token from that ship. If the defender does not have any command tokens, it gains a boarding token. When a ship has boarding tokens equal to its command value, that ship is destroyed.

Because our group is fighter heavy in most builds we run significant cover to counter this threat. Playtests where fewer fighters are used show boarding craft to have a little more teeth. That said you figure small ships would be simple bait for these sort of attacks as it would only take one boarding action to remove a ship from play, but they are hard to catch.

I have also been working on this option for players who want to have some protection against this mechanic, I thought it was only fair. Security Officer

I added an upgrade that allows ships to board each other. http://kdyards.com/upgrades.view.php?id=631

Havent had a chance to try it yet, but you are welcome to give it a go in your circle if you want Wes.

Same mechanic with a collision aspect. So not reliable but could be cool.
