How hard is it to use Biggs with a large-base ship?

By TasteTheRainbow, in X-Wing

Until the funds show up for my second Ghost I'm stuck running single-VCX lists. Does anyone have much experience with trying to get Biggs into range on a large ship? I don't need him there all the time, but I do want to punish anyone who guns for Chopper first. I am concerned about that 2-bank being the only green turn on a large base. Here's the tentative list.

No, accuracy corrector wouldn't be better.

Stress-chopper (100)

"Chopper" (48) - VCX-100

Fire Control System (2), Autoblaster Turret (2), Flechette Torpedoes (2), "Zeb" Orrelios (1), Tactician (2), Ion Projector (2)

Biggs Darklighter (26) - X-Wing

R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Gold Squadron Pilot (26) - Y-Wing

Twin Laser Turret (6), R3-A2 (2), BTL-A4 Y-wing (0)

I do agree FCS is the better option without a docked phantom. With the double tap, AC is entirely worth it.

Even with a docked Phantom, the FCS will be used more often. If you're primary is 4 attack dice, AC just isn't worth it.

I too have been thinking about a similar build:

“Chopper” (44), Fire-Control System (2), Autoblaster Turret (2), "Zeb" Orrelios (1), Ion Projector (2)

Ezra Bridger (27), Chewbacca (4), Push the Limit (3)

Which leaves me with 29 points to play with. I could put in "Angry Management Tycho"

Tycho Celchu (29), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Veteran Instincts (1), Experimental Interface (3), Rage (1)

But I worry he wont have enough offensive punch if I don't keep him in R1. Biggs with R2-D2 and IA

would have more offense, but is a 29 point Biggs worth it?

29-point Biggs is totally worth it if you can make them switch targets.

I agree about fcs. It's going to outperform accC in most matchups.

I'm going to have to give that list a friendly go next time I play. I could trade out Ion Projector for Tactical Jammer to give Biggs another defense dice, but the idea of bumping into a ship and keeping it there until I kill it just sounds too good!

Biggs R4-D6 IA

Gray Sq BTL R3-A2 TLT

Tala Sq

Eaden Vrill Tactical Jammer

Trying this out tomorrow and have the same concerns about maneuvering Eaden and Biggs. I don't want Biggs bumping so he can take his focus but also be positioned so Eaden gives him an extra green from Tac Jammer.

Grayhog fires before Eaden to stress targets. Tala becuase I had one point spare and PS 4 is better than 2. These two ships also need to stay in range 1 of Biğgs but can bump Eaden.

Btw. Ghost has 2 crew, not 3. You have Ezra, Chewie and Zeb there.

Also chopper also still also doesn't also have ept also.

Phrasing.

Isn't Kanan a much better match for Biggs than Chopper? By reducing the enemy's firepower you should be able to keep him biggsing for so much longer. Throw Jan Ors in for further durability.

Kanan Jarrus (38), Jan Ors (2), Recon Specialist (3), Autoblaster Turret (2), Accuracy Corrector (3)

Chopper with ion projector can completely smash a swarm. Kanan is alright, but chopper is incredible early and late-game against a wider variety of lists.
