DeciTAP

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I want to try out the new TAP, and It's been a while since I've flown a decimator, I just don't like the idea of doing a Decimator with just one other ship, so this was the best I could come up with.

Thoughts?

Valen Rudor — TIE Advanced Prototype 22
Push the Limit 3
Autothrusters 2
TIE/v1 1
Ship Total: 28

Patrol Leader — VT-49 Decimator 40
Mara Jade 3
Rebel Captive 3
Ion Projector 2
Ship Total: 48

Academy Pilot — TIE Fighter 12
Ship Total: 12

Academy Pilot — TIE Fighter 12
Ship Total: 12

Looks fine. You've got a bruiser to soak hits, some harassers, and a ace of sorts.

My only critique is with 4 ships, Rudor may not get shot at a lot to take advantage of his ability, and so you may want to drop one of the stress options and bump him up to the inquisitor.

Do you want 4 activations? If so it looks good.

I might suggest trading the 2 academy pilots for Omega Leader with Comm Relay if you are ok with going down to 3 activations.

Or go with the Inquisitor and a naked Omega Leader.

Some options, have fun!

Naked OL is not as good as you would like it to be, sadly. Like Soontir and PTL, he is pretty much made for the Juke/Relay combo

If you want to drop to 3 ships, you could do Rudor, OL, and your Patrol Leader without one of the upgrades, or Oicunn and one of them.

Maybe this?

Patrol Leader (40)
Darth Vader (3)

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Total: 100[/b

Would love to fit gunner in :(

I was just about to post that list. That's how I'd run a Decimator, Tie Adv. Prototype, and X

Three ships you can't afford to ignore. Which one did you ignore? ...WRONG!

Great minds! I think it has legs tbh.

Just chuck in the deci to cause havoc and hang back with the other two. If they are alive near the end game, then your prob doing very well!

So I've been thinking more about ship definitions, and one we need to add is Antiace - stuff designed to land hits on Aces despite green dice and high-PS arc dodging. Soontir, Tycho, Poe, Vader, and... I guess that Scum really doesn't have an arc dodger does it? Brobots, I suppose, but really they're jousters.

So Patrol Leader+Vader is anti-ace tech, as is OL/Juke/Comms. Doubling up on your antiace isn't BAD if you've got a lot of Soontirs flying around, but I'm not sure if it's as versatile as a 3-ship build can be.

48 Patrol Leader w/ Vader, Gunner

31 The Inquisitor w/ PTL, AT, TIE/v1

21 Zeta Leader w/ Crackshot

I love ZL. He hits like a truck for the points spent on him, and with the good greens on the TIE/FO dial he can use his ability multiple times - and with the other two 'known threats' on your list it's likely he'll slip under the radar. He and the Deci move in close, the Deci targets aces while ZL finds soft targets, while the Inq dances around at Range 3 to snipe.

Just a thought.

Oh these lists are pretty exciting...

Tie advanced and Omega Leader one would be disgusting to face. I've not used Zeta Leader, not sure I'd fly well with the stress and also wonder how it would fare against a stress build.

Also don't have auto thrusters or push the limit yet. Will no doubt buy from ebay soon...

I feel you. Nothin' at all wrong with Zeta Leader, although I prefer having my attack dice double modified. If I'm gonna put all that work into making the best moves, I can't stand for my shots to blank out:

Captain Oicunn (42)
Predator (3)
The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
"Zeta Leader" (20)
Predator (3)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Total: 100

Oh, I get THAT, and I was mostly trying to keep Gunner/Vader on the Deci because I know from (painful) experience how badly Soontir dies to it - very, very badly - and if the OP has a problem with Fel then he'd want to keep that. I'm not sold on TIE Mk. II, it only adds two greens and usually the twos are better for keeping him in the furball. I TL with Zeta Leader on my way in, which gives good enough odds for an attack, though I DO prefer Predator.

I think that Decimator + Inquisitor is a perfect pair, as their needs compliment each other - the Deci wants to get close and bully the enemy, Inq wants to stay far away and snipe them from behind TL+Focus. It's great that it leaves room for a third ship as well.

Though in thinking about, "Huh, 3 ships, what ship would make people sit up and say, "OMFGWTFBBQ???" and...

54 Oicunn w/ Draw Their Fire, Palpatine, Rebel Captive, Tactical Jammer

31 Inquisitor w/ PTL, Title, AT

14 Wampa

Ah, Wampa, my favorite terror target. Though it's hard giving up Colzet as a wingman for Wampa. DTF + Tac Jammer is usually not worth it (and probably isn't worth it here, despite being a mere two points), but for a target as terrifying as an unchecked Wampa it can mean the difference between getting one or two shots - even three or four. If only there were something to do with the left over point... and it screws with their targeting priority (Deci or Wampa?) leaving the Inquisitor free to do his long-range thing.

Sure, but when I saw this list, I instead thought this:

Captain Oicunn (42)
Predator (3)
Emperor Palpatine (8)
Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)
The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
"Wampa" (14)
Total: 100
...and that's how I learned that I might have an unhealthy Predator addiction.
I'll NEVER ROLL SINGLE MODIFIED! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!!
Also, anti-pursuit lasers with Emperor and Oicunn is lawlz

Zeta Leader loves Wired. Especially if you're fighting lower PS ships once in a while and get to use it defensively as well. The only issue is that you'll be telegraphing S-loops and k-turns (by not stressing up), so you'll either have to fake your opponent a few times, or forget those moves are on your dial.

Markham, you're a mad genius. Now I want to test this.

*sigh* so many builds, so little time...

Anyone tried a DexiTAP build yet? I'm really interested to see how the Inquisitor is to fly, especially compared to a titled Vader advanced.

I played a Vader, Inquisitor & Palp shuttle list recently.

Wasn't very competitive game but I'm liking the inquisitor. Takes a while to get your head around that you don't want to boost to get close in for extra dice haha

The green 1 banks and hards are really nice to go slow and keep that distance (Why doesn't Vader have a 1 hard!!!) He makes an excellent flanker being at range 3 with autos and the free evade with target lock plus the extra defense dice for no downside on the attack!

Ok so I'm going to run my list in the original post tonight at a League.

Just want to know:

2points on the Deci:

Tactitian, Kallus, APL, or Ion Projectors??
