Corrupt Citizen Cards

By Straangeer, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi everybody!

Question about CCC, if i played one in the set up phase of an encounter on a master changeling and this monster is defeated, can i play an other CCC on an other master changeling which i place under reinforcement in the same encounter?

In the rulebook i could not find anything which excludes this possibility.

What do you think?

"When a master Changeling is placed on the map, the Overlord may play a Corrupt Citizen Card". p.6 of the SoN rulebook. There is nothing that prevents you from playing more than 1 CCC during an encounter/quests as long as:

1) The card is played directly when a master changeling is placed. This prevents the OL from buffing the changeling later in the game.

2) There is no other CCC in play.

Also of note is that when a corrupt citizen is killed, then you return the card to the game box and you may not summon that corrupt citizen again that campaign.

Thank you guys!

You can also NOT place a corrupt citizen during setup... and wait until you reinforce your master to play it, reducing the risk of losing your corrupt citizen card.

As in, elect to play the corrupt citizen card only after the master has been killed once and reinforced. So, at setup, decide not to play any corrupt citizen card. The heroes rush your monsters and kill the master. Now, at the start of your first turn, you reinforce the master and play a corrupt citizen card. Checkmate, heroes.

I believe that you have to option to play a CCC every time a master Changeling is placed. The rulebook doesn't say that a CCC can only be 'attached' to a master Changeling during set-up, just when it is placed on the map which includes reinforcements. RAW you can corrupt every master changeling that appears on the map, as long as you have the CCC to show for it and there isn't already a CCC in play. But since there is only 1 master changeling that bit of ruling seems unnecessary.

However, I have a strong feeling that I am missing some unofficial ruling here:p wouldn't be the first time haha

You CAN play a CCC on a master changeling at setup.

We are saying it may be a good idea to CHOOSE not to if you think the master is just going to die (which loses you the card at no real benefit).

Ahaa, I get it know, caught off guard by Alarmed formulation. Guess it is time for some weekend:p

Exactly what Zaltyre said.

I was pointing out that there is no requirement to play the Corrupt citizen right away and that you could keep it in reserve to bulk up your master changeling if it fails to stop the heroes without enhancements.
