If the phantom is already deployed, and the ghost fires its turret at soontir who is range 2 directly behind the ghost, does soontir get autothrusters?
Autothrusters and The Ghost
Soontir would get Autothrusters because he is out of the Ghost's firing arc. The fact that the Ghost is using a turret does not change it's firing arc.
Edited by ParravonHowever, if the Ghost had launched a torpedo out of the special arc it would be considered inside the Ghost's arc.

Does the fact that the Ghost has a printed firing arc behind it change its firing arc?
I thought we'd established that if a card doesn't specify primary firing arc it works with any arc. Unless the Ghost has special rules contradicting this for its special arc...
That really depends on what the rules insert in the Ghost package says about that auxiliary arc. Does it always exist, even when the Phantom is not docked? I don't have a Ghost, so I don't know. But someone with one should be able to check.

This is not right. Since the VCX-100 has a printed arc to the rear, just like the Firespray-31, and Soontir is at Range 2, AT does not trigger.

It's a 'special arc' for firing torpedoes only. Does it still factor into cards like Autothrusters and Outmaneuver if the Ghost doesn't equip any torpedoes?
I don't think the 'special arc' is the same as an auxialiary arc.

Nothing in the Ghost rulebook says it doesn't count as a printed arc on the base, the core rules say printed arcs on the base count for those, so it counts for those unless there's an FAQ or erratum that says otherwise.
Nothing in the Ghost's rules insert suggests that the arc is ever "turned off"; you are just limited in what you may fire out of it.
I see no reason why Autothrusters should work if you are inside of the special arc and not beyond range 2.

You are right, it is not the same as an auxiliary firing arc. But it is still a printed arc. And since arc in general covers all types of arcs, why would it not be considered?
Huge ships have arcs that count even without hardpoints. So Ghost should work without torpedo or phantom.
What us you equip a torpedo? Does the arc then only count until you use the torpedo?
This is one we were hoping would be in the FAQ
An arc is an arc is an arc.
The only time it isn't is when a card says so. Can you only fire primary our of auxiliary arcs? Yes. Is it still an arc? Yes.
Can you only fire torps out of the Ghosts rear arc most of the time? Yes. Is it still an arc? Yes.
Until they clarify it as NOT being an arc for the likes of tactician and such, I'd say we follow the rules set so far for 'other' arcs.
I think it makes sense, unless FAQed otherwise, to consider that the rear arc is a printed arc, and therefore AT does not trigger, and Zeb crew allows ships touching you in the rear to attack and be attacked (the Ghost though may not shoot back if he doesn't have the correct weapon.)
I see nothing to suggest it wouldn't count. All an auxilary arc really is is a special arc for the primary weapon.
But you can't shoot your primary out the back without the shuttle so surely once that undocks it no longer counts as its stated as special and not auxiliary.
Yeah I can see both arguments are perfectly valid for this and it's gonna cause some agro till it's cleared up.

Where in the rules does it say anything about that making a difference?
Edited by RawlingSo I have the Phantom docked in the Ghost, and I have no torpedoes and no turret equipped. I have an enemy at Range 2 in the rear arc of the Ghost. May I fire my primary weapon of 4 dice?

Yes, but only while the Phantom is docked. You do lose out on the extra attack at the end of the round because you did not equip a turret.

That makes sense. But if I have the turret and torpedoes equipped, I may either: fire primary/ fire torpedoes and fire turret.
Pretty versatile ship.
