3rd Big Box and Small Box

By IronDan, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

First of all, sorry if this has come up before. I did look but couldn't find any discussion about this.

Right so we all reckon were going to get both Endor and Jabba'so Palace as "prime" location for the next two boxed sets BUT which way round????

Honestly I'm hoping for the Palace to be the big box and Endor the smaller. The Rancor can be the big "vehicle" centrepiece of the big box with massive Scum boost many people want.

This leaves the inevitable snipers and scouts to be the main villains for the smaller Endor box (I'm hoping no speeder bikes due to board sizes)

I leave this here for your thoughts.

I dont see why they need to be separate. Jabbas palace essentially needs one big tile and could be supplemented by the desert tiles we already have. And we might need a big tile or two to supplement the forest tiles we already have.

I really hope they do up Endor. I think Ewoks are the perfect outlet for a hero with the companion mechanic built in. My only concern is what we would be doing there. I think everybody wants us to tie into the huge battle at the end of RoTJ, but with the Solo strike team having the only, albeit older, code to land on the moon and that same strike team hitting the only real target there, what would we be doing and how would we get there?

I would say Endor would be the big box, since there is so much stuff going on there and it was a much larger battle. Adding rebel forest troopers, imperial scouts, ewoks, etc...

Jabba's Palace needs at least 4 new tiles: Palace Room, Dungeon, Rancor Pit, and the Sarlaac Pit. And the wave would need to include figures for the Rancor we all want, Gammorean Guards, 4-LOM and Zuckuss.

Also these times will easily be reversible with the endor ones, inside of the shield generator base, landing pad, speeder bike garage and maybe a fallen ATST walker.

don't forget that the sandy and wooded tiles are generally opposite so my money is on them being as stated here.

Yeah, the tiles are double sided outdoor, or double sided indoor. I don't think there are any transition pieces that go from desert to forest or from building to building, are there?

There are just a few pieces according to my notes:

37a[Core] - Desert/Forest

37b[Core] - Imperial/Interior

12a[Twin Shadows] - Desert/Forest

12b[Twin Shadows] - Imperial/Interior

There might be some more in Hoth, but I haven't noted those yet. There's a file I uploaded to BoardGameGeek with a list of all the tiles and their type. You can find it here https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/123548/ascii-tiles

So they do have transitions from one side of the map to the other.

Now that i look at it, there are some missions that have both interior types (Captured, The Source, Last Stand and Desperate Hour), but I cannot find a mission that transitions from forest to desert.

Jabba's Palace and Endor as a big box expansion could work well as far as tiles and figures go though Sam brings up a good point: what kind of story are they going to have to bridge the two that doesn't take from RotJ?

Potential double tiles (going with Collins idea):

Palace Endor

Palace Room shield generator room
Dungeon speeder bike garage
Rancor Pit landing pad
Sarlaac Pit fallen at-at

Possible figures:

rancor (either environment)
imp scouts
Gamorrean guards
Zuckuss and 4-Lom?
ewoks?
rebel scout troopers?

What locations could be used for a small box expansion? Dagobah? a random interior location/area? Nar Shadda?

Well, for Bespin, it's a completely different sub story involving Lando and an unknown Jedi Shadow. Perhaps it is before Han and Leia arrive, or after they all evacuate Bespin and realize they need something they left behind critical for the rebellion.

Same with Jabba's palace. Perhaps the rescue of Han Solo we saw in RoTJ wasn't the only rescue attempt, just the successful one?

As for Endor, just because they blew up the Death Star II and killed the emperor doesn't mean the rebels just "won".

The whole Return to Endor box will be about Imperial Massages.
