Which Interceptor to Pick?

By rabid1903, in X-Wing

Afternoon everyone,

So I've got a tournament coming up, and I'd like to change my squad up a bit. I flew a very similar squad last time around and had a lot of fun, with decent success.

The core of my squad is:

Sigma Squadron Pilot (25)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Intelligence Agent (1)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Sigma Squadron Pilot (25)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Intelligence Agent (1)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Leaving 32 points. I'm debating between these 4 interceptors to take:

#1 Turr Phennir (25) (1 point initiative bid)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Stealth Device (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

#2 Carnor Jax (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

#3 Carnor Jax (26)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Autothrusters (2)
Stealth Device (3)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

#4 Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)

My meta tends to have quite a few PS 8-10 ships, and TLT's. There's quite the number of oddball pilots like me though, which means I need to be prepared for anything.

I like to fly unpredictably, and tend to take pilots on the low end of the PS scale. Using the Intel Agents to great frustration of my opponents. With that, my current preference is: 2-3-1-4. What do you guys think?

With 2 sigma's I'd prefer Carnor. The #2 but drop TIE Mrk 2 for a 1pt bid. The disruption to actions make phantom shenanigans more effective.

Why take the 1 pt bid at PS 8 though? I feel like the unpredictability of being able to use 3 banks and really spread out would be more worth it.

Carnor #3 with Hull instead of Stealth might be good, but I only heard that and that was from people who used him with Palpatine support, so it might not be the best idea.

I have been seeing (and running) a fair number of PS8 pilots in 100 point lists & don't know that the 2 extra green maneuvers would make that big a difference. I would try both before deciding but probably start with the 1pt bid.

Unfortunately, I will not have the opportunity to try both. It's great advice, I just won't have the time to get any games in over the next few weeks.

Basically, my debate is does a guaranteed extra two greens outweigh the chance of being able to move last against other PS 8 pilots. That seems to really come down to my meta which unfortunately I don't have the time to really go analyze, leaving me in a bit of a tough spot.

Sorry, more venting frustration than anything on that last paragraph. How common are people seeing PS 8's nowadays?

I'd go VI, Hull, AT Carnor or if TLTs are all over the place, Turr with LW, Stealth, AT.
