Why wave 3 hate?

By Delta8, in Star Wars: Armada

Lot of hate for it. I love it. And the two missing sku numbers pretty much show we have at least 2 more ships in this wave. Long live armada

Meh.

It's been a year since the last wave announcement, a full quarter since the last wave release; people were expecting Wave 3 to be a banquet. Instead all we've seen so far is a hearty appetizer... An appetizer we won't get til July at the earliest, (which is pretty unlikely.)

Maybe we'll get more Wave 3... Hard to say. Maybe they will announce Wave 4 soon. Maybe this is all we're getting in 2016.

I think a lot of people are looking at X-Wing and IA and wanting that level of support. Probably a little jealousy there... A little feeling left out or like a 2nd class citizen compared to the rest of the Star Wars games.

Time will tell if they are just being Debby Downers, or if FFG truly does hate us.

I think it will be ok after adeptcon

I will bet you real money there will be no more Wave 3.

I will take all bets. By the time it releases I will have enough to buy 5 of each from people losing this bet.

Because people love to be mad about things that, in the grand scheme of things, matter very little.

I, for one, am very happy with Wave III and I hope it really is only two ships. They are two ships that could really shake up the game. I don't understand why people want their waves large and fast. Producing tons of game content quickly almost always leads to balance problems and, shortly thereafter, confusing nerfs. That is exactly why I quit playing Star Trek Attack Wing. I freaking loved that game at first and bought in heavily and then they started pumping out ships at ludicrous speed that were obviously not well tested. 1 wave a year is more than enough for me. Give me a good, well thought out game with slow releases any day over the alternative. I also love that I don't have to drop a ton of money every few months to stay competitive. This game is too expensive to be buying four-six ships every quarter. Quality over quantity!

I agree smog. I think this wave and what it introduces will have a big effect on the current game state and with future releases will add even more depth to this game. Slow releases, while it doesn't work with my inner child, has so far worked out extremely well with regards to balance. I want more, but I'm more than happy with what we are getting.

10 point demolisher title.

16 point Rhymer

Yeah, I'd rather they take the time with the playtesting and whatnot.

Like I posted before These 2 small ships are going to have a very big effect on the game. I think more then the whole of wave III did.

Lol

At the very least, I appreciate that FFG is trying to keep their previous models competitive and that I don't need to buy $100 of paperback books once a year to keep what I've got even "legal." I'm hoping that, years from now, a wave 2 built fleet doesn't need to have crap from waves 4-9 to be viable.

If it's just a matter of demonstrating the game is alive, I'd much, much much rather have FFG focus on tournaments, special events, scenarios, and special league-type stuff (maybe even with, *gasp*, exclusive, rather than simply alt-art upgrade/officer cards?) to promote the community

I don't know how many headaches massing of sullust created for the FFG overlords, but one thing it did where I lived was kick-off a crapload of armada buy-in and playing. I'm sure about 95% of that was ISD-lust, but still- that's the sort of thing that brings out the prack to the table.

I am pleased with wave III.

Contents of Wave 3 was what I expected for FFG to add in but not this soon.

I really don't understand all the salt and rage about wave 3

Interesting to note that the title image filename has the word "revised" in front of it.

Rogue One was originally scheduled for a Summer release before being moved to Christmas period.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case and has impacted their release schedule if they are including things from the film. We've already seen from recent X-Wing releases that FFG are using a lot from the new film(s)/tv series now.

I think this is the issue right here. People have (probably) been anticipating a release similar to wave 1. What we got so far, while nice, is not as ground breaking as prior waves.

I like the look of wave 3, but and hopeing for something more. I'd like another medium ship for the empire. The interdictor is now cannon from Rebels, and so is the Quasar carrier from the same. I think both would have been good fits for Wave 3.

With so much goodness out there it feels lacking at best. I think our expectations where for 4 ships and 1 squad or 2 ships and 2 epics.

When you wait so long for anything and it's not mind blowing it's a disappointment. Really I think at this point your happy for ships or sad the ones you wanted are not there.

Human nature tends to make us sad when it comes to disappointment.

Now that a new idea. Would be nice to see some rogue one ships.

Im looking forward to the flotilla and the change up they offer

Also at 20 a pop this wave will cost me 80 total so 2 new ships every 6 months or so is fine with me

these 2 ships will change how everything in the game can be used. Giving them the biggest change and effect so far. Very powerful for ships that have almost no combat power of their own.

This wave is really cool.

Added tactical and support depth is always good. I am excited.

Don't get me wrong I like these ships but is this it for Wave 3 or will there be some more ships for Wave 3?

I think this is it for wave 3. I can't see why they would announce wave 3 and not include all of wave 3 in a wave 3 announcement.

I could see them doing it in parts if they wanted to focus on the game changing nature of these 2 ships, before announcing more standard releases.

Or if the other releases need to wait for some event to take place first.

Or if they wanted to spread out announcements between Cons.

Have they a history of doing this kind of thing with any of their games? Real question, not sarcasm.

2 expansions and the wait is a little disappointing but i do think the transport and gozanti will be fun. I'm just not optimized that we will see any other expansions in 2016. If that's the case then I will

Be disappointed.
