Bossk (pilot) or Bossk (crew)?

I'm trying to fine-tune a list for an upcoming tournament. So... "would you rather" list A or list B, and why? Or what would you choose instead? (I don't anticipate having access to Wave 8 for the tournament.)

List A:

Bossk [35] + K4 Security Droid [3] + Gunner [5] + Maneuvering Fins [1]

Palob Godalhi [20] + ?? + Twin Laser Turret [6]

Binayre Pirate [12] + Feedback Array [2] x2

List B:

Latts Razzi [33] + Bossk (crew) [2] + K4 Security Droid [3] + Gunner [5] + Maneuvering Fins [1]

Palob Godalhi [20] + ?? + Twin Laser Turret [6]

Binayre Pirate [12] + Feedback Array [2] x2

There's space for a little more stuff (Outlaw Tech? Binayre -> Black Sun Soldiers? Determination? Veteran Instincts? Expert Handling?). Thoughts?

Gunner crew

Never found bossk, or fat yvs for thatcmatter, to be good investments

Gunner bossk gives you action independent "don't give a ****" mods to a 180 arc ship that can now hit palp aces. Only way to yv, IMO (can add zuckuss crew)

I've found gunner to not be worth it on Bossk Pilot, because you are going to kit him out and that first shot has a good chance of doing something.

If you want to have gunner, it means you are expecting to miss your first shot for the full Bossk-crew-modified second shot. I've run Bossk Pilot with k4 (or a proxied Dengar) and a proxied Zuckuss with a few options on the third crew slot, and it hits like a truck.

I've also run Gunner, Bossk Crew, and Tactician on the generic Slaver and consistently gotten two stress and some damage with that second shot.

Latts really wants you to take advantage of his ability with something like k4 and weapons engineer. I'm not sure he is worth the extra points otherwise.

I greatly enjoy:

Latts Razzi + Bossk (crew) + Gunner + K4 Security Droid + Hound's Tooth

This means you get the K4 target lock each round (that you do a green) to spend to help one of your other ships hit something (or wreck a TLT Y-Wing) and you get to throw crap dice when you attack in order to trigger Bossk (crew) & Gunner for maximum effect (depending on the base agility value of my opponent I find keeping the TL for rerolls pays off better). Plus you get to keep Latts Razzi and his/her ability on the table when the Nashtah Pup deploys.

I'd maybe try something like:

Veteran Instincts

Dengar (crew)

Zuckuss (crew)

Engine Upgrade

Binayre Pirate [12] + Feedback Array [2] x2 (28)

Palob Godalhi (26)

Twin Laser Turret

You've then got a 2 point bid or can put on an EPT or Crew on Palob.

Thanks for the feedback- it seems there's a pretty strong consensus on the high value of K4 + Bossk crew + Gunner. I'm not sure how I'd fit Hound's Tooth into the list, per Myr's suggestion- unless I drop the Z-95s for a TLT Y-Wing. Engine Upgrade is tempting, but also difficulty to cram in- it would be good for those endgame dances when all the support ships are gone.

I won a store tournament in the UK last weekend with this list.

Full of TLT cheese, but what I would consider to be the ultimate Bossk pilot build. The Engine Upgrade makes a terrific difference and lets you maximise the effectiveness of your 180 arc. The combination of K4 and Outlaw Tech gives you outstanding action efficiency. Most of the time you end up saving your TL or Focus for the second shot triggered by Gunner - just let the first shot strip the tokens.

Bossk is extremely powerful, but not when he isn't generating {kaboom}s. Biggest problem I see with this list is a lack of {kaboom} generation, just hoping for a natural {kaboom} or a reroll for a {kaboom} is not going to pan out as well as a Bossk + Recon Spec + Calculation or Bossk + Marksmanship, arguably Bossk + Mangler Cannon is even better than this, at least 50% of his firing arc will generate crits with a degree of reliability...

I'd maybe try something like:

It is true that you aren't getting consistent <kaboom>s with this, but with the one Dengar re-roll you have a 42% chance and on named pilots it is 49% to get at least one crit. I used this build to have a large base boosting 9PS 180 degree arc, and treated the pilot ability as a bonus when it happened.
