The REAL Outrage from Yesterday's Announcements: NO Engineering Tokens

By AllWingsStandyingBy, in Star Wars: Armada

So, we now know that acrylic Engineering tokens will not be included in the Regional Kits, the Spring Kits, or the Summer Kits. This means that, at the earliest:

(1) Acrylic Engineering Tokens in the next Winter Kit, nine months from now

(2) They will be included in the Nationals or Worlds Kit

or

(3) We will not be getting acrylic Engineering Tokens

Next year's kits is a stupid long wait, especially with no acrylic at all in the upcoming Spring and Summer Kit, which could mean no more acrylic in season kits for Armada, period (stupid challenge coins...). Nationals/Worlds would mean that the Engineering tokens are much harder for everyone to obtain and complete their sets. Not getting them at all would be extra, extra sad.

Either way, pretty disappointing. I wish Organized Play would see things through. Who wants to mix acrylic and cardboard? And Engineering is, along with Nav, the command you'd probably most often want a token. Not having a Firepower token would have been much less egregious.

Spoiler alert: this is because wave 3 removes the engineering command from the game.

Look at the outlie of the New Organised Play Document.

As of 2017, they are switching to a "Four Regular Tournament Kits" per Year - one per quarter, rather than the current "Three".

They have also stated that those "Regular" tournament kits will contain "Tokens and Alt Art Cards". These kits will also be available throughout that quarter, rather than only after an extensive pre-order period.

So, yes. At the moment, you are boned by the fact that there was only 3 Regular Kits in the Year, and 4 Types of Tokens.

Hopefully, in 2017, they'll make it up for you.

But for now, it'll be (3).

You will not be getting acrylic engineering tokens.

But that is listed to chancecome 2017

Of all the things in the world to complain about...

First world problems...

First world problems...

Problems are relative, there is no such thing as "first world problems."

But I agree, I just want those engineering tokens.

Those set up tokens in the regional kit are stupid. I make fun of people that still use those.

Umm, no, because we'll have had 5 seasonal kits now, with the first three featuring Firepower, Nav, and then Squadron. The next two (the upcoming Spring 2016 and the Summer 2016) have already been spoiled to contain no tokens.

So it wasn't like there had not been enough kits yet, there have been five seasonal kits already (counting Spring 2016 and Summer 2016) and OP only included command tokens in the first three, leaving the fourth and fifth kits without tokens at all.

Because those were 2015 kits.

Three 2015 kits. 4 Tokens.

The Math is Correct. From a Certain Point of View.

Its what I heard.

Correct... and these are the kinds of problems that apply in the first world.

Just as people can be upset at what they want (see the numerous disappointed threads), people can also find such complaints trivial by comparison of issues.

Anyways, I do understand the disappointment with the kit and I only meant my post tongue in cheek.

I'm sorry, but I am not seeing your point...?

There have been five tourney kits for Armada. Three of them contained command tokens, two of them contained no tokens.

What does it matter that there's three 2015 kits and two 2016 kits? The year a kit is released has no bearing on what can or cannot be included. Each is a separate standalone product that stores have the option to order.

FFG likes to do different styles of kits per year. To them it keeps things fresh and interesting while helping fix card imbalances (Leading Shots and XI7 Turbolasers) that are brought on by product packaging.

2015 was a year of tokens and 2016 will likely be the year of Alt art cards.

Aha, see there's irony.

"From a Certain Point of View," is the Jedi way of saying "I made you believe something that wasn't true, and I'm now going to cover it up with relativist claptrap."

Don't trust Jedi.
