Time to walk the dogs again

By Duck of Doom, in X-Wing Squad Lists

With the release of wave 8 I thought I'd look at creating a variant of the classic Biggs walks the Dogs.

The Dogs Walk You

Biggs

2x Dagger

-tractor beam

Gold Squadron

-TLT

-R2 Astro

It comes in at the standard 100pt build and aims for a slightly different set of shenanigans than the original by tossing your opponent around to give you superior position options with a bonus reduction to their agility.

Goldie adds a bit of token stripping and can help get that critical first damage through to the ever present auto- or stealth-cepter Aces.

Target priority can be a bit muddled as the daggers are built for redundancy on top of their normal versatility, as well as being escorted by everyone's favourite punching bag.

Feedback and suggestions welcome.

Move the R2 to Biggs for IA for sure. You could also drop to Blues in order to upgrade to a Stress Hawg to help with Aces. A stressed Vader or Fel becomes a lot easier to tractor beam and blow up the following turn.

If a Vader/Fel player is bad enough to fly into stress hog's arc, then you don't need tractor beam to kill them.

For the list though, stress hog is not a bad idea even so. You can even take R3-A2 without the title (crazy talk? depends on how badly you want to hit well flown aces). Integrated astro is not a bad call on Biggs too.

You only need 2 points for these changes, so either drop one dagger down to blue. But personally, I would feel more comfortable with an intel agent there, so drop both to blues for that addition.

So it would look like:

Biggs w/ R4-D6 + integrated (or other 1 pt droid of your choice) = 26

gold w/ R3-A2 + twin laser = 26 (no title!)

1 blue w/ tractor beam = 23

1 blue w/ tractor + E2 + intel agent = 25

100

Look at it the other way - Soontir and Vader will do their damnedest to stay out of the 'hog's arc, so if you cover its blind spots with tractor beams you can potentially punt them back *in* to its arc before it fires, thus getting it a chance to shoot at them with reduced agility and deal stress...

It sounds like a solid build.

Its certainly possible, but expecting a single 3 die attack to hit soontir or vader is a bit wishful thinking. That's why I suggested adding intel agent. With the b-wing's barrel roll, you might have the potential to get both tractor beams on target (without intel agent---good luck!)

Soontir much less likely, but hitting vader with a modified 3 die attack that doesn't give extra green dice for range is by no means impossible, even with Palp on the board. Not to mention if Soontir's spending actions arc dodging he's a lot easier to hit than if he's turtling.

Takes some good flying though.
