No Veterans with Wave 8

By exinfris, in X-Wing

If you need to learn anything it's that the UK distributor - Esdevium or whoever runs their marketing/shipping department are crap, my local stores always get misinformed by individuals from that company and rarely get the full order of their stock in the first shipment. Once it is on a release sheet then you can believe it - if it isn't on the sheet, forget about it.

Guys, is there really a reason to bash him for trusting his local store?

I think the bashing is more for his unjustified bashing of FFG. To complain that someone told him X would be totally reasonable, or if he bashed FFG but when corrected said, "Whoops, my bad, I'll edit my first post to correct it".

I check with the local store on my way home from work once a week, and the owner calls his two distributors weekly.

So that's where my info comes from.

Granted, I did blame ffg unfairly. But it was due to the faulty info I had recieved.

Yes, I could have gone to their website as everyone keeps telling me, and from now on I will, although I normally don't have time to due to my work schedule.

The only reason I'm even able to post anything right now is because currently the Operating Room here is quite. Normally this time of night I'm dealing with the after results of a drunk driver, or a gun shot victim, or setting the jaw of some woman who's drunk abusive husband beat the crap out of her.

You know, maybe this is because of all the ridiculous explosions happening everywhere, but I'm going to be frank. One of two things is going on here:

Either A:

You are a trained and ostensibly educated medical professional who not only doesn't understand how to come by reliable information AND flys utterly off his rocker when something expected does not happen as anticipated. In addition, you feel the need to trumpet that you are a medical professional instead of just saying "my bad."

Or B:

You are not a medical professional and are getting so defensive that you need to lie, hoping that people will call you out less.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and go with A. However, along with the benefit of the doubt I would love to know the name of the hospital you work at (if it's in New York, anyway) so I can have NEVER TAKE ME TO X HOSPITAL tattooed on my chest.

Speaking as someone who both works in industrial insurance, as well as has a number of family members who work in the fields of pharmaceuticals and hospital accounting: I have absolutely zero trouble believing situation A.

My experience with those who really hone themselves in on a specific field is that such focus usually comes with weaknesses in other areas of knowledge, along with blindness to the fact that they have those weaknesses.

Maybe not, but I'm not the only one to hear the same thing from distributors.

The owner of the store I went to, as well as the owner of another store a few miles away.

Then you're surrounded by incompetence.

I'm sorry for going ballistic on ffg over vets.

But bashing my profession is uncalled for.

I work 60+ hours a week helping others in some if not the most difficult times of their lives. I take pride in my job, and spend a lot of my free time studying new surgical procedures and techniques to ensure I am up to date and can give the best possible care to those in my charge.

Being one of two that are qualified to to work trauma, I adapt quickly to the inevitable changs that take place in our surgical department.

I was not placing blame on my profession for my lack of knowledge for the vets release date. Only stating that I do not spend a lot of time on the Internet for personal reasons due to my work schedule. And going by my local store on my way home has been my best source of information concerning new releases and such.

So for those of you who want to take jabs at my chosen profession, let's hear what yours are, and let's compare. How many lives have you helped save this week, or made better?

I'm willing to bet not many.

I really enjoy this forum, and normally post questions about lists and such. Admittedly, I usually do not give much advice on lists and such as I rarely get to play, so don't have the experience to share.

Wow, my auto correct really f'd that post up. Hope those that read it get my meaning.

You are absolutely right. I also recognize that level of arrogance and retract my statement. You are DEFINITELY a medical professional. As for your other comments:

Not a game you want to play. This forum (and this game) is home to teachers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. That just barely scratches the surface. I also wasn't criticizing your profession, I was criticizing your use of your profession to bolster your feeling of importance. Go back and re-read your posts. The clear implication was, "I'm a doctor/surgeon/nurse/OR tech so I don't have time like you nerds to check a website." You weren't blaming your profession, you were using it as a base to attack people on this forum, trying to turn an argument around against your opponents. All because you were proven clearly and decisively wrong and shown that to find accurate data you have to type www.fantasyflightgames.com into an address bar and tap a couple times on a smartphone screen. FYI, it just took me literally one minute to do so.

I was wrong to post some of what I said in earlier posts. That's on me, and I apologize.

See how easy it is? Now you try.

Around about 30 per day. Do I win?

I have potentially saved several hospitals, full of people, simultaneously.

;)

And you're correct. I shouldn't try and compare my profession to other's.

I have many friends who belong to those profession's, and all are dedicated.

I myself spent 23 years in the Army, and know the dedication and hardships that go with it.

If I offended anyone with that comment, or any of my previous, I apologize.

It does only take a minute to check the ffg site, and this is one post I regret posting.

never mind

[Edit - I had quite a bit to say but changed my mind]

Guys what's the bottom line? When are IV coming out? May?

Nobody knows. Likely late august/ early september with veterans slightly before it if last year was any indicator.
