WAVE III ANNOUNCEMENT

By WWPDSteven, in Star Wars: Armada

A whole year and all they did was make two TINY ships? Really? If Armada is going to be only one MICRO expansion a year... I might just cry myself to sleep tonight.

I think it is... cause Chris went and fell in love with his STAR WAS Stratego-Monopoly $100 new hotness this year.

We got all of the ships from ROTJ... so shut up and be happy gang! Chris wants us to play $100 Rebellion in our FLGS now so get busy!!!

LIES.

Oh, and this thing.

Sweet, it looks like I'll be able to afford wave III!

Will there be any advantage to owning multiples of these? I guess you'd get more activations, but do the upgrades stack if you take the same upgrade on multiple flotillas, or would you just benefit from being able to take additional, different upgrades by having more than one on the table?

Well, we have 3 of the Upgrades spoiled so far...

1 of them involves transferring tokens around.

1 of them is Bombing Dice Rerolls...

1 of them is enhanced repairing of another friendly...

... s o no reason to not have many of them for many effects.

No, we have 5 upgrades revealed:

Don't forget Agent Kallus and Toryn Farr.

I did not. I was specifically referring to the Fleet Support upgrades, and neglected to state so.

Sweet, it looks like I'll be able to afford wave III!

I can confidentially say the meta will quickly become 5-9 activation lists with 3-5 of these just for activation superiority. Wave 3 will make 2-3 ship list obsolete

You have said yourself in the past that Activation Advantage only gets you so far... Demolisher is fantastic for a First Strike, but your Fleet has to Fly on its own once Demolisher is Gone - even if it takes out an ISD on its way in and out, the rest of the fleet has to carry its own.

These will definately not carry a fleet on their own...

I call fie on you. Fie and your own contradictory nature!

FIE

Basically 5 ships dominate 3 ships but 8 ships doesn't actually add anything that 5 can't do, except dominate 5-6 ship list.

Agent Kallus, who allows you to hunt named squadrons, and

Toryn Farr who gives friendly ships and squadrons to reroll a blue die.

If you want to get technical, it's 7 with titles for both of the ships.

So, a ISD II loaded for bear and 9 Gozantis with repair crews. :)

One thing could be that Dat MOUSE wants FFG to hide the new TFA SD Expansion... dunno. They pulled that with T-70's & TIE Fo-Fo's in Wave VIII...

I would guess they would stack right?

Certainly repair crews and comm net would stack.

Presumably, if you have multiple bomber centers it would also stack, as we know that you can re-roll the same dice repeatedly so long as different upgrades are triggering. This would be the first time those different upgrades shared a name, but each would be a unique instance of a trigger, so I would assume it stacks. Just keep re-rolling that black bomber die.

Madaghmire, you're getting my hopes up- I think it'll get FAQ nerfed though.

If I could tripple reroll Luke skywalker on Yavvy, for example...

Well... I guess it's cool... A little underwhelming and in spite of it being 2 Tiny ships we likely won't see wave 3 until October or later...

This is disappointing...

On the bright side I can now run my Clonisher with 2 Expanded launcher raiders in a 8 activation list

Nothing would make me happier then to watch you be forced to waist that things first strike on a twenty point ship that scatters the first strike.

If you want to get technical, it's 7 with titles for both of the ships. Just because we can't see them doesn't mean they're not there.

Well, its hard to say something has been "Revealed" when you can't see them...

Y'know. Technically and all.

Also, in X-Wing, weren't the missing product numbers something to do with items that they did announce (accessories of some sort), but then never got around to producing?

Yeah it was for a set of tiles they were working on that never made it to market, largely I think because the concept was really bad. But in the past there's been catalog numbers missing and people assumed they'd be ships, when they really turned out to be accesories.

Not saying that is what is going to happen here, only that the missing catalog numbers isn't really proof of anything.

That said I'd be surprised if there weren't at least 2 more ships yet to come out if not four.

The best kind of correct.

Yes, the image looks badly cropped, and the filename does indeed say 'revised'.

Yes but I saw this image in another thread... This is is clearly not cropped.

These are actually two different pictures. This is a symmetrical picture where the flotillas are evenly leveled on either side of 'Wave III'

The picture in the article itself the Gozanti is much higher above the Rebel Transport and the symmetry is obviously off, showing that there is probably something large on the bottom left of that image counter-balancing whatever is on the bottom right:

revised_armada-wave3-title-image.jpg

The first pic was too wide, so they made it narrower.

As for the CR-90s being lower, that is to make room for the ISD. Even Rebel scum get out of the way for Imperial heros. As for why they didn't drop the Gozantis, the planet wisely got out of the way.

True, 'proof' is a strong word, but I'd categorize it as 'supporting evidence', at least.

I was thinking the other day that I wish there was a way to reroll squadron dice. I've used Nym twice, the blue crit never happened, and he was never seen again.

I was hoping for this and am ecstatic!

I find it odd that they gave it a Q3 release date. Q3 for these 2 little fighter pack sized expansions?

I mean the latest Ia Wave With a small box and 4 blister packs got a Q2 release date... Why will it take longer for just two little bitty Armada packs?

So, a ISD II loaded for bear and 9 Gozantis with repair crews. :)

If the ISD has no shields left and is taking 6 damage, the Gozanti can repair 1 and then the other guy comes in and deals another 6 damage.

What I am worried about is the Bomber center on several ships. That could mean multiple rerolls all for the low low price of 30ish points.

Also, in X-Wing, weren't the missing product numbers something to do with items that they did announce (accessories of some sort), but then never got around to producing?

Proof, Smoof, there is no Proof in internet.

So, with nothing to back me up, here's what I think!

Umm..... Dang, this spoiler has kinda messed that up. I was thinking wave 3 would be 5-6 new releases, 2 ships for each faction and ether, 2 squad packs, or one shared pack. Now I'm wondering if the Gozer and MC-90 fill the smaller ship slots or the squad slot/slots?

So, a ISD II loaded for bear and 9 Gozantis with repair crews. :)

You would have to strip it's shields and then blow it up. It is actually easier then you are making it sound.

Sorry, my bad, I have fixed the font and size.

We can go through the math bit you are repairing 1 card at a time where a CR90 with TRC's can deal 2. Once your shields are down it is just a matter of time.

On a side note. . . These are 20ish point squadron slingers. . .

still wouldn't matter. It is like trying to drain the water with a cup from a sinking yacht.

That is on top of the ISDs own Repair efforts, of course.

Its the Gozanti's giving up their repair for someone else...

They have to be at range 5 though, which means a piece of paper ship within red dice range. ACKBARRRRRRRR.

(Note: Rhymer shenanighans is going to become even more painful.)
