Assault Carriers and Rebel Transports
Thinking about it more... I'm fairly certain they will be unpainted.
The game is already HEAVILY focused on squadrons. (Too squadron heavy in my opinion). It would be absurd to have a whole new squadron pack, this early in the game. Rather this, in PLACE of the squadron pack, to make better use of the squadrons we already have, without adding any NEW squadrons. I would guess that they might come in a single pack. 4 minis, 2 bases, in one pack. If they are packaged this way, it would be similar to the squadron pack style format, so they may not be painted.
The good news though, is that if they aren't painted, that means there is a whole new actual WAVE of ships... that ARE painted... that are still waiting to be revealed (Hopefully Adepticon?). So if wave 3 has 3-5 new ships PLUS these transport/carriers as an extra pack, I'll be very happy and certainly won't mind them being unpainted.
Since they are on a capital ship stand, I bet they come prepainted. I love the idea of these convoys flying about. I think they are both likely cheap squad command options

But if that's true, I'd have to expect them to have the most amazing and complex rules and instructions we've ever seen. took them a full year to make... 2 unpainted ship models? I mean granted, I most certainly DID want to litter the battlefield with Transports.... but not at the cost of an entire wave. If this is truly all they've done for a full year I'll probably throw in the towel on Armada, because that means it'll end up taking 4 years for Armada to deliver what X-Wing delivers in 4-5 months.
Those little transports look just like a Squip that squeaked out.
If they don't look painted in the picture they may not come painted. Those announcement images are usually computer renders rather than actual ship models, so I doubt they would render them gray and then paint the actual models. Then again, the Star Destroyers are all gray and they are painted...

As someone who only does Imperial, I'd prefer that they do them singly, rather than a double pack.

Prediction: FFG is forced to put a warning label on the side of those little squips due to Easy ultimately misusing them on the prison deck of the FSD.

Did you read my post? I thought I already explained it.
- Every released for this game has had UNPAINTED squadrons, and PAINTED ships.
- If these come UNPAINTED, then they just might be taking the PLACE of the squadron pack that many of us expect to see in a "wave 3".
- If this preview is indeed the SQUADRON PACK equivalent of Wave 3, then I'd imagine the rest of wave 3 would be ships.... which have always been PAINTED.
Obviously there is some speculation here since the few "trends" we have don't have a ton of history to make them concrete.... but that is my thought process.
Not the best picture in the world but if you look closely enough (at the Rebel Transports in particular) it would appear they're going to be pre-painted!

Don't know if you watched the stream, (and a HUGE thanks to whomever that person was), but it was readily apparent that the point of the presentation wasn't about new product news. This felt like teaser info and they had to hand pick a small piece of new info in front of the real meat for FLGS types in the audience. More traffic to FLGS. The store finder. The 2017 May the 4th event. New rules for sale of product that emphasizes the central role for FLGS.
I think the real product news is meant for a Con audience, that's where the pack of fans are who are eagerly awaiting new product news.

these could break the game open with the number of activation given, but thankfully FFG solved the bump-fest problem before it started

...keep in mind they lied like doggs about Wave 8... so we may still get a added product like when the T-70 & Fo-Fo all of a sudden became part of the wave. I do not expect that to happen... but it could happen.
I already like the concept behind the new stuff, but I cannot believe that this is the whole wave. Wave four better be amazeballs huge.
