Tournament Saturday need some advise

By ny99gretzky, in X-Wing

Have a tournament this Saturday and was wondering about my list. I've played it with friends and done really good but never in a tournament so I thought I get some advice. My list is

Darth Vader - Predator, Tie advanced upgrade, Advanced Targeting Computer, Stealth - 36 -

Rear Admiral Chiraneau - Expose, Navigator, Rebel Captive, Weapons Enginer, Experimental

Interface, and the Dauntless upgrade. - 64 - for total 100 points -

That way I can target lock two ships and then do expose, plus I like where I can change my maneuver and try not to run into ships but if I do run into someone I still have a target lock on someone.

If you want to go down the alley of consistent high damage from RAC, try this:

Rear Admiral Chiraneu - 59 points

- Predator

- Navigator

- Rebel Captive

- Engine Upgrade

Save 5 points, get more maneuverability, and have a pseudo-Focus & Target Lock regardless of if you bump someone. You could use those 5 to put Engine Upgrade and Proton Rockets on Vader. That'd leave you with a point for an initiative bid, or you could replace Predator on RAC with Opportunist if you want an extra red die every once in a while.

I faced a similar list last saturday (with BBBBZ) and was very happy that Vader did not have Engine Upgrade. The trick is, that with only a barrel roll at his disposal, you can fairly well predict what direction Vader's arc will be and manipulate the targets he has. Defeating the list then involved predicting what would end up in Vader's arc and shooting as much as possible into Chiraneau. I did not face a Rebel Captive though.

This:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)
Predator (3)
Emperor Palpatine (8)
Ysanne Isard (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Darth Vader (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)
Total: 100
If you want the 1pt bid against PS8 Omega Leader and Inquisitor, and other PS11 Vaders, you can drop Ysanne down to Rebel Captive.
Knowing how to use your Decimator's speed and bulk is critical to your success. Bump to deny shots and block like a fiend. Always try to end a maneuver with your Deci right behind small, arc dependent ships, especially if they're the action dependent ones who won't want to do a K-Turn and can't otherwise rotate 180 degrees. Fly Vader defensively when you need to, as he's your end game trump card, and losing him costs you 50% of your firepower.

Thanks guys I got somethings to think about until then, and some practice games before then to try them out.

Also advice is not the same as advise.
