Decimator Assistance

By RentAHero, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Just purchased a Decimator and built the following list with it. It's untested, but I'm bad at envisioning unexpected situations and wondered if you fine people would like to pick this apart? Thanks.

VT-49 Decimator: · Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)

Expose (4)

Gunner (5)

Weapons Engineer (3)

Fleet Officer (3)

TIE Fighter: · "Howlrunner" (18)

Swarm Tactics (2)

TIE Fighter: Black Squadron Pilot (14)

Predator (3)

I think your biggest issue is you have 3 cards that all require an action, expose, weapons engineer, and fleet officer. Without experimental interface your locked in to 1 action per turn, leaving you with a lot of points that can't be used.

That I do. Thanks, I'll look into some better action economy.

Predator is a point cheaper than expose, nearly as good and doesn't use up your action.

Take off Expose and Weapons Engineer, put on Predator and either Isard or Rebel Captive for some tanking/stressing ability. I'd also get rid of Fleet Officer for Recon Specialist, giving your possible Gunner second shot a focus.

So-

Chiraneau(46)

Predator (3)

Gunner (5)

Recon Specialist (3)

Rebel Captive (3)

Or

Chiraneau (46)

Predator (3)

Gunner (5)

Mercenary Copilot (2)

Ysanne Isard (4)

First build gives you good chances to do major damage with one of your shots while stressing the enemy when attacked, while the second lets you hit hard at all ranges and survive a bit longer.

Going to have to get another Predator and own a Rebel Captive soon, then. XD

I prefer Ysanne Isard to Rebel Captive, personally. One evade may not seem like a lot, but it's an extra hit point every single turn the Deci is able to trigger it.

Add with Kenkirk and you can get a beefy ship your opponents will have to spend time burning down. And they can't ignore a 3-4 dice turret.

AND it doesn't require you to buy a Lambda for Reb Cap.

Additional recommendation - Engine Upgrade on RAC let's him dodge a bit more shots than you might think, which can ALSO extend the life of the Deci, which is really what the ship needs.
