Hangar Bay Tournament List

By jangopool, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Been posting on a couple lists now, but wanted to consolidate my posts/lists into one post.

I signed up for my first ever tournament near the end of the month and it's in Hangar Bay format. I plan on running Rebels & Scum for this and wanted to get your thoughts on the following lists:

Scum:

IG-88 B (36)

Crack Shot (1)

Mangler Cannon (4)

Fire Control System (2)

Autothrusters (2)

Dengar (33)

Punishing one (12)

Wired (1)

Experimental Interface (3)

Gonk (2)

R5 P8 (3)

Rebel (torn between 2 lists):

Keyan Farlander (29)

Opportunist (4)

Advanced Sensors (3)

Wes Janson (29)

Predator (3)

R2-D2 (4)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Tycho Celchu (26)

PTL (3)

Refit (-2)

Test Pilot (0)

Rage (1)

OR

Keyan Farlander (29)

Opportunist (4)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Poe Dameron (31)

Predator (3)

R5P9 (3)

Autothrusters (2)

Gold Squad Pilot (18)

TLT (6)

I am sure there are other variants that might work, but wanted to get your thoughts on if these lists seem competitive enough for a tourney.

Thanks in advance all!

People are in love with the idea of Gonk. They won't be after running it a few times. I highly advise against Gonk on any JumpMaster.

Gonk has a place on like, Palob with Predator and TLTs. Then Palob won't need to TL, and he can just steal his focus tokens, so Gonk on the pre-combat phase and the first combat phase to store shields, then restore later on. That's just fine.

This Dengar you're proposing benefits WAY more from just running Recon Specialist. The defensive focus tokens will net you just as much HP as Gonk, and they're way more action efficient, in addition to being usable on the offense.

Here's my proposal for your Scum list, using your two pilots:

Dengar (33)
Predator (3)
Recon Specialist (3)
Punishing One (12)
IG-88B (36)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Autothrusters (2)
Total: 99
As for the Rebel list, what else do you own or would you be interested in flying? I'm not in love with Keyan Farlander because he's pretty easy to blow up, but if you had your heart set on him, he should have a way to stress himself other than just maneuvers.

Personnally I would go without the Rebs and replace it with an Imp list, but I'm an Imperial Navy player so it just be me. But if you want Rebs go with the first one. Don't have any of the Scum ships though.

Thanks for the suggestion on the scum list and will play that one out too. I have SOME time to test it out. As for Keyan....yeah he's suspect in being the first to go, which is why I am hoping that Poe or Wes have predator to represent a good offensive fighter. Since Keyan has opportunist, he will always be stressed as long as the enemy does not have tokens (hence the Wes setup).

I would personally consider overhauling both of those Rebel lists (no offense). I do not think they will perform well in tournament play. I could be wrong, but you'd have to be a pretty stellar pilot to make them work, imho.

Are there other rebel ships might be interested in? Pilots who aren't Keyan, perhaps?

I have almost every expansion for rebel (minus wave 8) and am open to other lists. I personally just liked the Keyan+Opportunist build due to the fact I find him always at range one to a target while using opportunist for a 5 attack roll. I am aware that Keyan is offensive-minded and will need to fly well for him (especially against TLT) to reduce the damage he takes.

Regarding rebel list 1, Wes just makes sense with Keyan considering that Wes strips tokens, allowing Keyan to use opportunist almost all the time against the same target. While those two fly together, Tycho can just stress all he wants, keep using Rage, and just take quick pot shots at the enemy while being very agile.

Here's an XXB list that might be a little more fun. It's probably not the most competitive list ever, but I think you'll find it more effective than the Rebel squads above:

Nera Dantels (26)
Deadeye (1)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Extra Munitions (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
R4-D6 (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Poe Dameron (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
R2-D2 (4)
Weapons Guidance (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Total: 99
So the trick is that Poe and Biggs fire before Nera to strip shields, then Nera lights up her enemies with a torpedo that guarantees two crits. Make sure Nera does not spend her focus token prior to shooting. Biggs can protect himself a bit with that droid.
Poe has a Weapons Guidance system that allows him to use his pilot ability to convert a focus to a hit, then the guidance sys to change blank to a hit, making him super accurate. Normally this would be a terrible idea as Poe wants to retain his focus token, but in the opening round of combat when he's adjacent to Biggs, this is probably fine. It's also fine late game when your opponent doesn't have firing arcs on Poe, which you'll know because hopefully you move last, with PS10 and a 1pt init bid.
Biggs and Nera will explode, but hopefully your team can do enough damage in the initial joust with the proton torpedoes for Poe to be able to clean up in the late game.
It's a goofy but fun list. Actually capable of doing some real damage, too. Might be worth trying.

I like that list and will have to test it out. For now, I'm probably going to go with:

Rebel

Wes+Predator+R2D2+Integrated Astromech

Keyan+Opportunist+Advanced Sensors

Tycho+PTL+Refit+Test Pilot+Rage

Scum

Dengar+Wired+Gonk+Experiential Interface+Punishing One+Unhinged Astromech

Moralo Eval+Mangler Cannon+Gunner+Boba Fett+Bossk+Glitterstim

Some tweaks may come, but this will be a test for me to see if B-wings have no place in tourneys.

Good luck. Have fun.
