Venator Painting Progress
Excellent work!
I've almost bought that ship like 5 times.
C'mon, you must know all about 6th time lucky and so forth.
"Do, or do not. There is no try"
I'm located in Virginia actually, it was like...5 dollars easy.
Oh and the Space Whale...that'll be the 4th attempt btw.
Holy cow.nyou did that a shaeways product. How did you getvhtv grain off.msand?
Thats FUD, so the detail actually sharper than the FFG ships. There is a slight "grain" but it takes the form of .5 mm lines that are difficult ti detect except on large flat surfaces.

The Venator has some serious fuzz in the recesses of the engines and along the "trench" that separates the top from the bottom...couldn't get it off.
I'm hopeful the assault frigate MK1 doesn't have that issue.

Just the .5mm lines I described.
If it is any consolation, the fuzziness isn't showing up on the pictures, so it will never be noticed on the tabletop.

How long did it take to get to you?

Well....the post office doesn't like to update travel time...but I'd say 5-6 days.
Here's a somewhat dangerous trick you can do for 3D printing fuzz (do with extreme caution!)
Get a q-tip dipped in acetone and rub it along the fuzzy surface. It will probably disintegrate the not-quite separated resin films. This also helps to smooth out the steps in hard to reach places where you can't get sandpaper into.
Be careful though- do it too much and you'll just have a melty pile of slag.

Not gonna lie...I'm not gonna risk 100 bucks like that ![]()

Acetone only works if it is ABS or an ABS/PLA hybrid. If it's pure PLA, you will need to use Ethyl Acetate. I don't think this works on Frosted-Ultra Detail because it is a UV-cured resin and not ABS or PLA.
