Themed Falcons

By Firespray-32, in X-Wing

Where'd the Falcon go?

This challenge is to build the most ANH-like, ESB-equse and RoTJ-ish Falcon you can, making the Falcon perform like it does in each film.

Build the Falcon to fit the best you can and then explain how to play it and justify your card choices.

Here are my intepretations of how the Falcon behaves in each film as a starting point. Feel free to disagree with them but remember to mention that in your build explanations.

  • In ANH the Falcon's main scene is the TIE fighter battle where it crews both guns and defends itself without fancy maneuvering or running from the battle.
  • In ESB the Falcon dives into an asteroid belt where it outmaneuvers TIE fighters, dodges fire from Star Destroyers and has technical failures at the worst possible moments.
  • In RoTJ the Falcon leads Gold Squadron in a command role. It then dives into the Death Star, maneuvers through the tight spaces and takes out the reactor core with a missile strike.

The aim of this challenge is the best mechanical match to the films you can get, not to put all the right characters on. Ignore card names for the purposes of this: if the crew of the Ghost and Jan Ors make it work the way you want to, use them. If Lando works best for the ANH-like Falcon, use him.

There is only one card restriction in this challenge: C-3PO. As good a fit as telling you the odds is, C-3PO is close enough to autoinclude that he'd limit variety in this build challenge.

Sorry, but for me to match it has to have the named characters. Their pilot/crew abilities are derived from their screen time and therefore should reflect their thematic role (the circle is complete)

I'll have a crack at ROTJ:-

Lando - Pilot ability accounts for Gold Leader

Nien Numb - Triggers his Pilot ability (and was there)

Gunner - the ship was throwing out a lot of shots flying around the frigates etc

Millennium Falcon - can't be a thematic falcon without the title

Concussion Missiles - for taking out the reactor

Engine Upgrade - ain't going to get out of that reactor tube without a boost

Push the limit - flying in those tunnels and escaping was really pushing the Falcon to it's limit (also allows Target Lock Focus with the missiles on the reactor)

ANH :

Pilot : Chewbacca - seems logic since Luke and Han use the turrets for the Death Star escape
Millenium Falcon, of course

Luke Skywalker - "don't get cocky ! "
Han Solo - crew
Engine upgrade - fastest ship you can find in Mos Eisley !

ESB :

Pilot : Han Solo
Millenium Falcon
R2Dcrew fixes the hyperdrive
C3PO - for giving useful statistics
Engine upgrade
