Bring it FFG. Otherwise someone out there will hack the decent one and re skin in for IA for free before you can make money from it.
Edited by MrMustangNew Descent App Allows for full CO-OP, do you think this should/will come to IA
They just released the first full campaign, Kindred Fire, for free with a quote on Facebook saying how well this app does will determine how much of this they do in the future. So if you guys want a Star Wars App, do yourself a favor and just go d/l this. Even if you don't plan to ever use it, download the app on every platform you possibly can to pad the numbers. The more successful the app (campaign) is the higher chance we get it here.
I've got it downloaded on both steam accounts, multiple blue stacks accounts and multiple apple accounts.. I think 7 platforms total now, I've done my part, now do yours!
Edited by FrogTriggerLet me be crystal clear: I currently own solely the base Core Set of Imperial Assault. It's a fun game, we're almost through the main campaign (playing once every two months or something like that because of player availability). Although they look intriguing, I have no real incentive to get Twin Shadows, Return to Hoth or Bespin Gambit (after all: not done yet with the main one!).
If a companion app was to be published, I would INSTANTLY BUY ALL THE OTHER BOXES (present and future) WITHOUT A MOMENT'S HESITATION.
That is my message to you, FFG.
Actually I am in the same boat, I've got a group that has played the first 3 missions of the campaign but for many reasons we have had a hard time getting together to finish it up. And no one ever wants to play the empire.
The app would help and I promised the wife I wouldn't buy any more boxes until I finished the first campaign. If they released the app for IA they would get a lot more of my money.
On the reverse side, I have all the IA expansions so far, but this app is making me want to buy Descent as well. I think playing the co-op with my wife would be a lot of fun, and while my IA group isn't lacking for Imperial players, I'd love to not need one if necessary. An app like this for IA would truly be a game changer, and I really hope they're working on one.
I hope they announce the app at celebrations
Road to Legend actually got me to play Descent 2.0.
An app for IA might make me forget that I own Descent. I would play the bejeezus out of this.
This is clearly a licensing issue. FFG may have (seemingly) carte blanche to make a mess of Star Wars games, that doesn't mean they have the same digital rights.
As a side note, I played Road to Legend last night with some friends. Frankly, I would enjoy a little bit more automation. Things like tracking damage, actual enemy AI, location monitoring, and line of site rulings. I understand that would be a much more complex product, and possibly more expensive. As it stands, I want more from the app than it currently offers.

That's what I've been wondering about the app. Having to follow a script to move the enemies seems less fun to me than a program that says "put the enemies here, he attacks for this much damage"
I think you want to play a video game. Thanks for stopping by though!
Well Mr. second coolest character in Chrono Trigger, while I appreciate you trying to just blow me off, I fail to see how some basic feedback in the app equates to a video game. I assure you that if I wanted to play a video game, I would.

No I don't. Not in this case anyway. Your derision is badly misplaced in this case, like someone who gets snobby about their Starbucks coffee. I see from your profile you've been registered only since this January. I've been on these boards for quite a bit longer than you so "stopping by" is hardly the best term to describe it.
Just because IA is a board game doesn't mean it can't learn from video games. Why, after all, would someone play a board game when video games are present? What make board games usefully different? I play because I enjoy the physical components. It is very satisfying to hold and touch and move the figures in a way video games can't match. I pay because because I enjoy the social interaction and the tune with my friends that you just don't quite get in the same way with video games. I play because no video game quite captures the feel and experience of IA (XCOM comes closest in mechanics but fails in tone and theme).
The app in question already blends video and board game. There is fault in wishing the enemy was more automated. There is good reason in fact: doing so would enhance the feeling of taking up with your friends against an enemy. Even if all the scripting and enemy actions were the same, simply making it transparent the player would increase immersion and buy in. Sure it would require players to input the results of actions, but that's not too bad, a simple GUI with like a number field and check boxes for status effects would do. Move of this is silly our unreasonable, and it would be nice if they did it, but I do understand why they didn't. Just not sure it is worth it to me in this case.
My response was actually aimed at Folkenhellfang, didn't read your post but I thought I'd let you know that ![]()
Count me in
I would LOVE to have an App like this for IA ... might be the only way that I can play Rebels during the campaign, since I'm the one running it in my group ![]()
I hope it's coming soon ![]()

The issue with that is that you are much less dependent on the physical product. It is pretty much a digital version of the current co-op version of Descent, with a little bit more spice.

This.
I've been playing the hell out of the RtL app. My D2E had been collecting dust before this came about. I can't disagree more about the app needing to take over more management of the board. IMO FFG has struck an exquisite balance here. The app gets rid of the mundane fiddly bits surrounding campaign management while presenting an AI that allows for full co-op, all while keeping it a boardgame and not a video game. Everything else that gives it the boardgame flavor is kept where it SHOULD be: on the board. If it has to monitor monster locations, damage, line-of-site, etc. then it has to monitor locations for everything on the board, and then at that point why not just call it what it is: A D2E digital port. Thanks but no thanks on that one. Kudos to FFG for striking a great balance between the digital and physical aspects of D2E.
Additionally, my IA collection consists of everything up to and including the first small box expansion with hero and villain packs. IA is currently collecting dust on my gaming shelves by it's lonesome. WHEN FFG releases a full co-op app for IA it'll be on my table constantly and the scramble to complete my collection will go into overdrive. The only question will be what my mood is on a particular day: high fantasy or sci-fi?
Edited by cdj0902Looks like I didn't anticipate the move of the needle going from interesting augmentation to digital apartheid in nothing flat. It's cool that so many like the app as is, and it's a really great use of a tablet in a gaming context. I would simply like it to do a little more. I'm lucky to have a gaming group that is big enough and active to support playing games like IA and Descent every week. I'll be skipping the app for now, but I'll keep checking out how it evolves as well as holding out hope that they do an Imperial Assault version.
I also would love an app for IA, like many others here have been playing alot with the app for descent, so make one for IA so we dont have mor lonely nights. ![]()
Count me in for wanting this for Imperial Assault. My friend and I have been playing through the Kindred Fire campaign for a couple weeks now, and we're having a blast. Imperial Assault has been collecting dust on my shelf for months, and now that Descent is so much more fun to play, it'll probably remain that way until FFG makes an app for it.
Let's take out the "digital" vs "non-digital" argument: Strictly Usability wise, the need to input Hitpoints Values and Locations would be just worse. The small screen would make it hard for everyone to check the status of everything. Right now, there are Usability Advantages for the traditional Board Game that won't go away without Digital Tables like f.e. Microsofts Surface Tables. And even then, that would have to be a common Household Item. That being said, I can imagine that a game with RFID Chips could track the locations on a physical Board.
Just my2cents

We need this FFG!
Please make this App FFG
Pleeeeases
@ FFG, i would pay money for a similar app like Descent Road to Legends for Imperial Assault. Please give the community a hint or word about intent on this subject. You've already created the template with road to legends.
The people have spoken FFG, now just give us what we want
Winter is coming.. we need something to do on the long cold nights!
I want this so bad.
I have a complete IA collection but no friends to play with.
I always have to play by myself.
