Did you wander

  1. yes

1. Did you stray away from X-wing? - Yes.

2. What game? - I started playing the Batman Miniatures Game. Even bought m first paints and painted my first ever miniatures!

3. What game systems do you play other than X-wing? Erm, I play Batman (skirmish?), and then lots of different tabletop games with my wife and friends.

I'm so sick of just tournament level X-wing that I'm starting a podcast about casual based X-wing. I want to bring back fun games that move beyond 100 pt deathmatch.

I'm glad it's not just me. Playing the 100 point deathmatch in a six rock asteroid field, over and over and over again, game after game... I don't know how people do it! I'd go crazy from the boredom!

Exactly! I've been playing since Wave 1. There are always people who end up liking the hard core tournament scene. There are others who tolerate it and can play mild games. There are others who hate it and end up leaving the scene because they just don't want to have to pay attention to the latest hype and play a list that is tournament hard core. They just want to play X-wing and have fun.

I've been disappointed in the number of podcasts that only talk about high level "competitive" play. I tend to skip episodes that only deal with reviewing a wave, as they just dismiss 75% of everything new. There are so many cool ways to play this game and enjoy it for the Star Wars game that it is. I hope we can get our first episode out in a month.

2. What game?

3. What game systems do you play other than X-wing?

1. No, I did not "stray", as X-wing and I do not have an "exclusive" relationship.

2. Force on Force, Holy Hack, Wings of Glory, Check Your Six, Full Thrust...

3. All of the above plus: General Quarters 1&2, Ironclads, Wooden Ships & Iron Men, Imperial Assault, Catan... pretty anything that does not come from GW

Seriously? Wooden Ships * Iron Men? I have a copy going back ages. We used to play that and the original Yaquinto Iron Clads all the time. And Wings of Glory, Full Thrust...

I like your taste in games.

1 no, I don't even have time to play this.

2 x wing is my drift away from warmachine.

3 mostly war machine and hordes. I used to play 40k, but got tired of the prices and the way the system was run. When I joined a game club they mostly played war machine so I picked it up and loved it.

1. Did you stray away from X-wing? Yes, but I'm back with a vengeance now.

2. What game? Armada,Bolt Action,Infinity, Horus Heresy.

3. What game systems do you play other than X-wing? At present none. Armada is just a total snafu.Bolt Action has an online culture that I don't care for and very few players at my flgs. Infinity's my high school crush that I hooked up with many years later to find the fantasy doesn't match the reality. Horus Heresy is a cool assed setting with a really crappy game attached to it, should have really known better as fleeing 40k is what brought me to X-Wing. Looking forwards to trying the Halo:ground combat game when it actually gets a non-working title and have backed the Mantic Deadzone & Warpath Kickstarters so hope to get some game in with those once they go into print.

So far X-wing is the only tabletop miniature war game that I play since getting back into tabletop games. I've never been big into deck building card games and right now I don't have the interest or finances needed to build good lists of minis for other games.

Armada interests me somewhat and a small voice in my head occasionally thinks about getting back into 40K but right now my gaming activities exclusvely involve X-wing at my local stores or I go sit in front of my PC at home and play games on Steam.

Play the missions and scenarios. They are pretty fun and a nice way to play the game without it being hard core.
