Tractor Beam and Corran Horn

By CalebML, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The RAW say exactly that. I mean litterally the FAQ has an entry that was qouted not a page back that states exactly what you are claiming it doesn't.

I believe this is the intention of the rule. It is not, however, what the rules say RAW

Yes, it is.

"A ship with at least one tractor beam token assigned to it follows special rules during these phases:

• Combat Phase: The agility value of that ship is reduced by 1 for each tractor beam token, to a minimum of 0."

During the combat phase, the agility value is reduced.

No the intention is that you lower the Agility of the ship by 1 for each token, until they are removed. There is a subtle difference.

The 'during' refers to the scope of the rule, not the duration of the effect.

So during the Combat phase you lower the Agility by 1 for each token. When the combat phase ends, you can no longer lower the Agility by adding more tokens. But the Agility is still modified. This modification end when the tokens are removed, because the reference card only applies to ships with at least one token.

So you're saying if you somehow acquired a tractor token outside the combat phase (e.g. a Tractor Bomb, or a pilot who could shoot outside the combat phase) it would have no effect other than the forced movement, by this logic.

I think that is what both Forgottenlore and i are saying. That is not what we are disagreeing on. We are disagreeing on when the effect of the token ends.

To add to my argument, that the effect lasts as long as the token is present, the reference card is the Tractor Bean Token Reference Card. A reference card for the token, not the weapon.

But even that is an assumption not stated in the RAW. You are not told to increase the agi when removing the token, any more than you are told the effect only lasts for the duration of the combat phase.

While I see the arguments for the -1 agility penalty continuing until the token is removed, but the text doesn't support it.
