So, in a way, this is cheesy, and just self-serving of my story, but it could be useful to others, too, so I'll see what people think. Psykers are, obviously, a thing, and telepathy is a nifty power set to have. As I flip through the books I own, I see things like the Rite of Duplissence (NOT a psyker thing, but a merging of two minds, to a degree, if you will; definitely moreso than I'm looking for), and also the Psylakis Warder, an interesting alt career, if not proof that the editors can't spell "Aes Sedai".
Thing I'm sort of wondering. Are there any telepathic powers, maybe even fan-spun ones, that would create a similar bond between two people? I have two characters who share a powerful bond, emotionally, and one is a psyker, of a sort; I was thinking that, as a sign of trust (weird people, right?), they might form a link, sort of like what the Psylakis do. Might it just be easier to say they pay 500-1,000 xp, and do this one-time ritual, that gives them Mindlinked, which sort of covers that the Psylakis doesn't pay XP, but gives up a whole level of skills, talents, and stuff, while these two
would
pay XP, and keeps it from being a "lets everyone do this cheesy thing, as a group!", or is there a better power to reflect it? I'm certainly not looking for them to have some super long-range telepathic converse, but I do like the idea that they share a deep connection, and one with a mechanical benefit (I'm needy that way.) It's another thing that could certainly come back to bite them in the ass, but their stories are full of that, so what's one more?
Thoughts? Any ideas would be cool. Thanks much!
