So why were people taking Gunnery Teams AND Advanced Gunnery? Regardless of the rule change, that just strikes me as a highly inefficient use of objectives.....
So why were people taking Gunnery Teams AND Advanced Gunnery? Regardless of the rule change, that just strikes me as a highly inefficient use of objectives.....
Because Gunnery Team is Awesome all the time.
Advanced Gunnery is EVEN BETTER as Second Player.
So you took Gunnery Teams on the off chance you didn't get Advanced Gunnery as an Objective, Because Opponets have to be Crazy to let you have it most of the time, and would pick a Yellow or Blue objective instead.

Yes but, going from no Gunnery Team to Player 1 advanced gunnery, is pretty much as good a boost as going from gunnery team to player 2 advanced gunnery. Where is the player 2 benefit here?
(And now its been ruled that having gunnery team nerfs advanced gunnery so no longer a good idea at all! For those who are not following the tournament rules thread)

You asked why people Did it.
That's why.
It was a gamble to get the 2nd Player Benefit from it. You only put it in if you were Second Player...
IF you were first player, You accepted the fact you Already Had Gunnery Teams, and you would NOT choose it from your Opponents Objectives. Because why give them the Benefit when you basically already had it.
In your face everyone who argued with me about Nashtah and VI !!!!! ![]()
But wording is ultra weird there : "If Bossk is equipped with Veteran Instincts or Adaptability and Hound’s Tooth, the Nashta" i guess someone was too focused on fluff while writing it
or it really comes down just to Bossk.
I... think you're in the wrong forums here ![]()

upsiiiii right sorry guys ![]()
While it doesn't say it, I've always assumed that Intel Officer refers to the defender's defense tokens. Now you can ditch your own. I presume it's supposed to combo with Devastator.

That was the Argument that was postulated on the forums previously with it... Combo up Darth Vader + Intel Officer on your own stuff to Boost Devastator...
It also made some people really pissed off when that Answer came back, and fuelled a bunch of If you Do this I will punch you in the face for being stupid statements from some people, that was really very disappointing overall as a forum topic.
I'm sure you could search for it if you wanted.

Only if you have and use Commander Vaders ability?
The way it is worded, you can target your own defense tokens but your defense tokens are never spent as the attacker and thus wouldnt be discarded from Intel Officer, unless you used Vadar.

And I've taken advanced gunnery with 1x MC30 and 3x AF. All the AF had Gunnery Teams but you did NOT want to face a double-side-arc from The Hug Monster. That can make a fresh ISD vanish.
Edited by SomeKittensI don't understand the logic behind Adv Gunnery nullifiying your Gunnery Team (or vice versa)...
The objectives are supposed to give the second player an advantage...

And they will.
So long as your Objective Ship is not Equipped with a Gunnery Team.
Which just makes it a choice.
I mean, MC80s still love Advanced gunnery, one way or another.
Plus it may mean we see other Gun-Team related Slot usage... Such as Ordnance Experts or Ruthless Strategists... Who knows...
Yeah, if you are second player with Gunnery Teams, you already stand to lose 7 points, and the upgrade slot. You stand to gain quite a bit, however.
Now you gain nothing, and lose 70-120 points.
Dr. Zoidberg that doesn't make sense.
Gunnery Team explicitly states that you cannot target the same ship twice in a round. The new ruling states that the upgrade card takes precedence over the objective.

Some people just need to Wean themselves off the Gunnery-Team-Teat. ![]()

Oh yes, I see.
Well they should just change that order of operations, I guess.

Or Advanced Gunnery more likely, lol.
That's OK, I haven't used Advanced Gunnery since Wave 2 released.

Interesting observation...Intuitively we always played where Advanced Gunnery wins because it's the better benefit, and I was wondering why this ruling was necessary. But maybe they are setting a precedent that Upgrade Cards > Objective Cards > Rules Reference. I wonder what other upgrade cards they have cooking that might override objectives... ![]()
I'm happy considering it as a Nerf to Gunnery Teams.
But very biased as I'm mostly personally just sick that they are "Required Upgrades" and nothing else sees table time unless I am the weirdo doing it... ![]()

Thats the thing I don't get about it. No one was playing this objective anyway, and now half the lists that took it probably wont. So what has been accomplished?
I suppose maybe now those lists take a suboptimal red objective that has a higher chance of being picked?
On a quick side-note: Anyone else notice that the one-tool rule has been completely removed from the tournament PDF? There no longer seems to be any issues with using several tools/tokens at once during your turn provided it doesn't slow down play substantially.
Could be omitted due to X-Wing Copy-Pasting, as they don't have any of those rules...
Who knows at this point?
