New FAQ up.

"Q: Can I shoot at and deal Damage cards to a destroyed ship that has not been removed from the play area due to the Simultaneous attack rule?

A: Yes"

Ok... I need to hear some reasoning why this would ever be something you'd want to do. I'm sure it came up for a reason, so please, enlighten me. :)

If some ability triggers only if you attack and it is the only ship you can attack that round.

Say you killed a YT-1300 that had three A-Wings within range 1. You could shoot Assault Missiles at the *dead* YT instead of one of the A-Wings so that you're going against 1 evade die instead of 3, if the splash damage is all you care about.

Hoping to get a crit that will keep the ship from firing back that turn before it is removed from the board.

1) in order to cloak with TIE Phantom + Advanced cloaking device.

2) in order to regenerate a shield with Miranda Doni

3) in order to remove Blinded Pilot from old core set damage deck

Basically any benefit from taking a shot which does not interact directly with the targetted ship makes sense. Agreed that this is extremely corner case.

Holy cow I think you got enough answers to your question Kdubb lol

Lol enough of us reading this.

And still no answer to Omega Leader v R7 astromech :(

It kind of hints at the answer with the phrasing about effects generating from the target locked ship, but it would nice to have a definitive answer.

Oooh finally the great Autothruster-Inquisitor debate has ended. May you retire peacefully into the graveyard of pointless threads my friend.

What do people think about Youngster working on Tie FO's, as well?

I enjoy that they revised feedback array, can no longer use it while on an asteroid. Also feel somewhat vindicated about being right on the inquisitors' ability.

Makes Rage on Youngster a bit more attractive. FO's have a better dial for dealing with stress and they have that stress shedding dude (I cannot remember the blasted FO pilots names).

Wade Piche clarified that maneuver reference sheets are fine on Facebook. So what are they banning with that outside material rule? Googled strategies? Texts from friends?

That's what I would enforce. Third party apps may be a gray area, too. I would say it's basically... if it's FFG released information it's fine. If it's forum posts, strategies, or written notes about how to counteract things, it's not.

Hopefully this does not apply to situations when your opponent is just barely slow-playing enough that so that you can check Facebook between dials.

I don't like the tactician ruling. It makes sense, but I still feel (take the Firespray in their diagram) that attack is R1 out of arc, so that should be the measurement for tactician. It just feels too anti large base to me (a dedicated small Imperial player XD)

Was expected given that with everything else they have allowed TIE Fighter /FO's to be treated like a TIE fighter

I'm pretty certain the "Being shot at range 1 but still having Tactician applied because base is in arc at range 2" thing ONLY applies to the case with Turrets, where a Turret arc is at Range 1, but a forward facing arc is at range 2.

From some of the responses on this thread, I'm pretty sure people are confusing the truth and stating that "if any part of your ship is range 2 (say, ship base is half in range 1, half in range 2), Tactician applies." This is NOT correct.

The FAQ update should only apply to the specific case with turrets. Tactician did NOT get a buff against forward arc only shots, nor did Autothrusters, haha. God, that would suck.

Tractor beams to rob the shot.

Meh. I thought it was already a thing, but I haven't come up with any interesting lists to fly with it.

the new stuff about measuring range with autothrusters and tactician is interesting.

So if any part of your base is at range 3, autothrusters kick in. Or if any part of your base is at range 2, tactician kicks in.

So you could be getting shot at range one and still get stressed from tactician, or shot at range 2 and still have autothrusters kick in.

About the bolded: No. Tactician requires that any part of the defending ship's base be at range 2 WITHIN YOUR FIRING ARC. But Autothrusters as well as rolling an extra red or green die for range measure closest point to closest point.

In the example they've given, the only corner of the Firespray's base in arc is entirely at range 2. If a part of the Firespray's base was in arc at range 1, then the Firespray would be 'at' range 1 in arc, and Tactician wouldn't trigger.

For the Autothrusters in that example, the TAP is either: out of arc at range 2, or in arc at range 3. Autothrusters will trigger under both these conditions, so it does.

It could also work with Expose. Go with cheapest FO's, but they are harder to kill with the extra Shield.

If you thought that The Inquisitor canceled Autothrusters before 4/2/2016 then you were wrong and have nothing to feel vindicated about.

Doesn't it modify Omega Leader's dice?

It makes Omega Leader modify his own dice.

What they explicitly miss is that the defender can only trigger cards that allow HIM (the defender) to modify dice. If R7 instead makes Omega Leader (the attacker) modify dice, then R7 actually can NEVER activate against any target. The defender can't activate it, because it is not a card that allows HIM to modify dice.

From the rules reference:

"Modify Attack Dice: The defender can resolve any card abilities that allow him to modify the attack dice. Then the attacker can modify his attack dice in one or more of the following ways as many times as possible..."

Autothrusters basically asks two questions:

  • Are you in the attacker's arc beyond range 2? No? Then...
  • Are you outside the attackers arc?

And the first question isn't two separate conditions. You have to be (in arc beyond Range 2). As in, the part of your ship that is in arc is at Range 3. Seems pretty cut and dried to me.
