New "Tournament Regulations" Document

By Drasnighta, in Star Wars: Armada

Per the wording on Head to Head, won't that pretty much never be used since no reasonable Armada tournament is going to have everyone fight everyone?

I do love that in Definitions they define MoV as "the first tiebreaker" and then contradict that on the next page, though.

well if you are unlucky enough only have 4 people in a tournament you will play everyone once.

Cool, the BYE is only worth 7pts (129 MoV) now. 8 Points seemed like too much, you'd always want that BYE. Now it's good getting a free win first round, but 7 points is less beneficial than 8. Seems to be a better balance.

Under the definition of bye they spell out 8...129 MOV

Where did you find that? All I found was that the BYE awarded an MoV of 129 under the Margin of Victory section. And the Tournament Point sections says an MoV of 129 is worth 7 points.

Oh, I see it now under "Tournament Concepts" and only under Tournament Concepts.

(1) That's a stupid f'in place to hide it.

(2) That's a stupid amount of free points, the BYE is too good in a 3 Round tournament

(3) It's dumb 129 MoV is a 7pt win but 8pts on the BYE

i'm confused, to me it still says the second player places the first obstacle on page 5 under Game Setup on Point 5.

An interesting note is that Head to Head is now the first go to for determining tie breakers and then MoV instead of MoV.

Game Setup, point 4: "One player uses their set of six obstacles found in the core set. The player with initiative chooses one of these tokens and places it into the setup area. Then, the other player chooses one of the remaining tokens and places it into the setup area. [...] "

Point 5 does not say anything about obstacles, I'm afriad.

I retract my last message. FFG have sneakly uploaded a new version, with at least the obstacles-part correct. I have not yet read through the entire thing.

Yes,

V_102 now.

It now does mention the time to look at objectives.

Second Player places Obstacle first.

At least that shows they read the forums, even if they can't generally be bothered to talk to us.

lol i guess when i woke up the first thing i read was version 1.02

Ok NOW they should have placed new stuff in red.

Yep.

Technically Can't fault it now. :D

Asmodee/FFG Big Boss: "The consumers are hounding us for some Armada news."

Armada Team: "Oh don't worry we'll release the new Tournament Docs and FAQ. Those guys on the forums are like free labor. We don't even proofread this !@#$ anymore."

Big Boss: "Good, good. That'll distract them."

Armada Team: "Yeah we need them occupied. Wave Three's big Surprise is Jar Jar as a Rebel Commander. I think that might get ugly..."

Looks like we won't have to wait too long for a second set of Regionals. Plus there will now be 4 seasonal kits per year.

Apparently FFG OP just presented at GAMA. Announced an expansion of their program. I expect they are showing Regionals prizes there and will post them soon.

Gives hope to us getting more Armada announced tomorrow.

I agree, it's a little bit fishy to ninja-edit like that. But hey, good thing they changed that part so quickly. Now we just have to wait and see how long before they change all the other stuff.

What changes? I just downloaded again and there are no changes.

Also, why not delete the setup section. The rules have it all covered and there isn't any need to change what we do for a tournament is there?

I think there may be an intern position opening up at FFG after this. The current one is going back to school.

Yes, there are changes. At first, they uploaded version 1.0, which looked like this in the Game Setup-section:

Then, rather quickly, they changed to version 1.0.2, which looked like this in the same section:

However, like we discussed above, they did in fact not use red text to show what the changes are.

man I feel like I just got WizKidsed our GWed

The squadron deployment the way it is, is painful to look at. I'm hoping they change it to the "standard" way.

I wonder how they will get around the squadron deployment contradiction to the FAQ

I still find it interesting that they didn't change the terminology in the other sections of Game Setup. The newly added part about obstacle placement uses "second player" (as it should in Armada), but the other parts still uses "the player with initiative". This is almost never used in the RRG (only in one place in the entire thing, in the section about Optional rules, when the initiative actually switches between players). But I guess that also could be easily explained if it is in fact a copy-error from X-Wing, where "the player with initiative" is used instead of First/Second player.

Clearly this set of egregious typos and mistakes, paired with the fact that Wave 3 has not been announced yet, means that FFG is not just cancelling Armada, but will also be sending people to travel to the homes of every single Armada purchaser in order to personally destroy their ships with their fists, feet, and harsh words.

OK, now to make matters "worser" they have the old document on the announcement page and the revised document on the Armada product page, hence my issue with not being able to find the changes. They have two documents in play.

I also think that unless there is a fundamental change not in the rule book why have it all? (Unless you cut and paste from the rule book.)

It seems more likely that they're the ones that are going to be facing the angry mob, rather than the one's engaged in the aggression.

Honestly, this is just getting funnier.

I'm going to offer to do proofreading for FFG for free. Clearly they cannot afford professional help.

When you email to offer them this, make sure you include all the issues we caught.

E-mail sent :D
