WAVE IX: Taking Bets and Predictions, Hopes and Dreams!

By Tsiegtiez, in X-Wing

Because it hasn't been mentioned near enough, Gunboat!

Though there's plenty of other stuff I'd like to see. The Tie Avenger would be cool, as would the Skipray

i want boatguns

Imperial: The Gunboat is of course a favorite, although the Sentinel-class shuttle would be interesting as well. The Skipray would be an interesting and strong large base ship.

Rebel: I have no idea. Maybe the Scurrg (would be better Scum IMO), maybe one of the other letter wings, maybe the new pancake from the latest episode of Rebels.

Scum: The Scurrg would be cool, but personally I friggin love the Krayt Gunship.

Whatever ends up being in Wave IX, I will be excited regardless!

My break the bank Wave 9

Rebels - Nova Courier

Imperial - TIE Aggressor

Scum - Krayt, Rihkxryk, Kimogila, Dunelizard

All Factions - Sorosuub Yacht

All Faction Epic - Y-8 Mining Ship

I don't get why people keep trying to pin the Skipray TOC Empire, it's used almost exclusively by scum in the lore. Also Empire will get a non tie small ship just as soon as they release Trade Federation ships for Rebels :P

Rebels: Something small

Resistance: TFA Millennium Falcon

Empire: TIE... Something? Scout maybe? Hunter?

First Order: Command Shuttle

Scum: Mandalorian Fighter (Rebels show)

Star Jewel (small) Huge with Jabba crew, scyk repaint with Hutt bodyguard

Action VI transport Huge, with Wild Karrde and Interceptor Frigate titles, Aves, Karrde, Mara Jade crew cards.

The star jewel is bigger than the action vi...

Star jewel is 160 meters, Action VI is 125 meters. Neither really qualifies as a "small" huge ship. They're both big enough to be 2 sections.

First Order: Command Shuttle

Scum: Mandalorian Fighter (Rebels show)

Yeah while watching that episode if Rebels when if first aired my immediate first thought was "oooh I hope we get those in X Wing"

It was initially built for and sold to the Empire, but yes, it could quite easily see service with both factions.

Talon Karrde and Tyber Zann both used the Skipray extensively, but so did Imperial Customs and pilots like Kir Kanos.

Right!? I'm not even a big Scum player but I would dig those. The one catch is I don't know if they were in before the design of wave nine started. I have then here because my list is trying to take into account two things right now: We're building up two sub factions to break away and become independent. And we don't want the whole wave to be *too* terribly expensive. I figure 40 for command Shuttle, 30 for new Falcon, 15 each for the remaining three, and we should be good

What do you think that dial would look like? That'd obviously be the big strength of that ship.

At this point I don't care as long as the Rebels don't get ANOTHER TURRET/PWT SHIP.

Y-wing doesn't have a crew slot, so TIE/sf shouldn't get one either. Only the ships with copilots, passenger space or weapon systems officers get crew slots.

The only y-wing with a gunner, by canon, is the one with the bubble turret from Clone Wars. If they did that as a model, then a crew slot makes sense.
Current canon doesn't matter because in game Y-wing represents two old canon variants: two-man S3 by default and one man A4 via title card. S3 has a turret and no crew slot, A4 has only one seat so the turret is locked forward.

People are getting hung on the number of seats in the TIE/sf and not what the crew slot would represent for a special forces craft.. Special forces generally focus on unconventional tactics, which crew such as weapons engineer (think omega leader with two target locks!) or a fast agile fighter that can stay out of arc and triggers saboteur? If the ship has three attack in front arc, then gunner can be useful. I'm not going to go through every possible crew upgrade, but the crew slot would add versatility to an attack craft - think of a mobile and decent attacking Hwk-290 for the Empire/First Order.

No ship with only a gunner has ever got a crew slot. Rebel fighters are known for adaptability to various missions, so a crew slot for Y-wing would make a perfect sense by your line of thought. And it has the seating.

Also, the focusing on the actual seating is rather facetious, because if we apply that "logic" to the lambda shuttle, that vehicle would have maybe 4-12 crew slots, it did carry all the main characters in cockpit in Return of the Jedi, as well as a whole asssult team.

The logic is pretty simple and logical, it's just you not understanding it.It goes like that:- does it have any more crew than a pilot and a gunner? Yes, then add a crew slot.- does it have much more crew than a pilot and a gunner? Yes, then add more crew slots. How much depends on balance/flavour.

If we want to apply logic, the empire shouldn't be able to use the default gunner card as it has a wookie on it. Let alone I don't remember seeing ughnauts manning the weapons and targeting of the death star.

Completely unrelated.

The upgrades have a thematic feel, but they are not necessarily meant to be taken literally. Shouldn't the x-wing have 6 torpedo slots?

- does it carry torpedoes? Yes, then torpedo slot- does it carry a lot of torpedoes? Yes, then more torpedo slots

Having trouble with quoting this so I will bring up a few points

When x-wing came out star wars was still in a bit of lull. The last thing we got was the clone wars, before that the prequels. We had hundred(s) of novels, comics etc. Then Disney bought the rights, and since then they are keeping a consistency, or trying to at least. I expext we will see more ships and info that is canonicallly correct, or legends material that is non-essential, such as scum ships - though I expect many of these will lose their old backstory.

As to the TIE/sf, y-wing, crew slots and seating, we should also look towards the TIE Phantom. Here is another ship that has only TWO seats and a crew slot. By legends, there is a pilot and co-pilot/gunner/ cloak operator. Now, this latter position seems to be integral to the operation of the ship, much like your y-wing turret example, YET, the ship gets a crew slot. Both posistions are filled for the operation, much like the TIE/sf, but the crew slot allows a slew of versatile options to the craft. While the TIE/sf likely lacks the cloaking, I personally see the ship being similar in terms of what, and why, the ship has a crew slot.

So, by your criteria, the TIE Phantom shouldn't have a crew slot.

Doubt FO will ever get TIE/sf as its own ship (title card maybe?)

Rebels will get more stuff from the show (rebels) and hopefully some Rogue One stuff (depending on when wave nine is released)

Scum should get Skipray and yt-2000 plus Star Jewel epic ship with scyck fix

Empire get Kylo's upsilon class shuttle and maybe tie hunter/predator

Am I the only person on this forum who actually DOES NOT care if the empire gets the assault gunboat?

Will we see anymore huge ships like the Imperial cruiser or blockade runner?

You're not alone! I couldn't care less about it myself. I'm also one of the people that doesn't want to see a new square-dish falcon model. I don't fly the one I have, why the heck would I need 2? I'm perfectly happy to get new pilots in another pack similar to most wanted.

Completely inaccurate! Those TIE's should be firing green lasers!

Nonono, you see, it is a completely different model of TIE, TIE/rl. It will be a new fighter for the First Order in Episode VIII, to keep up with the OT tradition of introducing a new TIE each episode. It's been designed by the same revolutionary team of young, creative artists that brought you T-70 and TIE/fo.

Why does one of those TIEs have testicles...

Why does one of those TIEs have testicles...

Dats the squad leader... dur?

Next wave? Dunno. But at some point before Episode 8:

TIE FO/sf(cog wheel one)

Ren's shuttle

Episode 7 Falcon with new dish, possibly lower stats than current version, new Han, Chewie and Rey pilot cards(maybe whomever Rey stole it from(Simon Peg?). Also Fin, Rey, BB-8 as crew cards.

Want to say that troop transport also but it really doesn't seem to be worth it.

As for current X-wing:

Avenger, though with the Proto, and despite its history, not holding my breath. Perhaps the Oppressor(?) with the rear turret giving Imps a small base turret ship. Still leaves Hunter, Droid, Scout(that'd be like the Star Viper, K-wing being a medium size ship on small base) and the boat(s).

Rebels, no idea.

Scum: Skipray. Maybe the Mandelorian fighter from Rebels.

Could do a Rebels(tv show) set with an A-wing repaint with Hera, Sabine & 2 Pheonix Squadron generics with the Mining Gulid TIE.

Rebels: Something small

Resistance: TFA Millennium Falcon

Empire: TIE... Something? Scout maybe? Hunter?

First Order: Command Shuttle

The only product announcement during that thing was for Armada. We're still in the dark.
