WAVE IX: Taking Bets and Predictions, Hopes and Dreams!

By Tsiegtiez, in X-Wing

I think it would be really cool to see something that falls in line with "Rogue One" movie. Be it a x-wing prototype maybe bigger with less maneuvering but more fire power. Also I dont know if there really is one, but a epic Scum ship.... With Jabba as a crew member!!!!

I think that the TIE/sf might kill off any chance of seeing the TIE Aggressor. Rear arc/turret? Whichever way you go, they seem to tread on each others toes.

Rather than just another repaint (which we had in the Rebel Transport pack) I'd like to seeT65 / T70 models with the s-foilsnclosed as well. Rebel Veterans. Maybe?

...but why?

Since TFA I've been waiting to fly the Tie/sf. It's a tie fighter AND it has a hyperdrive AND it has shields AND it has a turret AND it's mass produced! I'm a sucker for fluff stuff.

I'm on board hoping for the YT-2000, but I'm guessing with the rebels just getting the Ghost, they'll probably be getting a small ship.

Scum aces would be cool, but I'm hoping there isn't a fix for the scyk, because that's my favorite scum ship and I'd have an excuse to start a scum fleet. Don't need the temptation.

Why not? If they're going to give us an X-wing fix, it's certainly going to be shipped with some sort of X-wing. Variety is good. A couple of closed wing T70s would look pretty tasty in a list with open wing ones, especially if the fix was actually to do with the s-foils closing/opening (as has been mooted, especially with the advent of dual cards).

Still hoping that one day we get the TIE Scimitar.

They will look just as good as the Falcon with Lando sticking out of its top hatch, I mean we saw it in the movie and he could maybe fire his blaster at enemies?

And an upgrade card to match the model, which would allow the Falcon to get an additional attack with 5 attack dice at the end of the round?

Oh, man, how cool would that be?

For the same reasons I didn't build all my Space Marines in exactly the same pose, despite them all being identically armed.

Because I like visual and aesthetic differences, even when functionality is the same.

Because variety is the spice of life.

And because we see X-Wings with their s-foils closed throughout the trilogy, so why not in the game as well.

Why not?

Rebellion/Resistance - H6 Scurrg Bomber w/Nym - already in Armada as a Rebellion craft (along with the YT-1300, YT-2400, and the HWK)
Empire/First Order - Mining Guild TIE/ln (maybe?) as shown in SW:Rebels
Scum - Shadow Caster from SW:Rebels

Scum Epic - Minstrel Yacht - w/Star Jewel and Dragon Pearl titles (full 160m would be 40cm in scale, so they can drop it down to about 25cm and be close'ish)

They're on record as saying the new waves will feature SW:Rebels and Rogue One, so I don't think all the hopes/crushed dreams for Assault Gunboats will ever come true... unless it gets some screen time in RO

What about an X-wing with landing gear down?

Because X-Wings are in combat, so they have their S-Foils locked in combat position. Imagine how stupid they'd look with them closed in the middle of combat...

Sure, you might've made your Space Marines look different, but you didn't have one sitting on a tanning bed or lying on a sofa watching football, because soldiers in a combat zone tend to be ready for combat.

I suspect that Wave 9 was designed so long ago (probably more than a year ago at this point) that the TIE/sf wasn't seriously considered. But it's likely that it will be in Wave 10.

It would be fascinating if something like the Mining Guild TIE showed up in Wave 9. It would mean that FFG has been in the loop on Rebels stuff way in advance of the rest of us. But I wouldn't count on it.

The pedants are out in force today, by the look of it.

I'm well aware of the X-Wing's functionality, and I'm also aware that in every single source it's appeared in, be it film, book, TV, video game, comic, whatever - it's also been shown with closed s-foils. Including most recently the Force Awakens - in the middle of combat.

So no, I don't see any reason at all why we shouldn't see an X-Wing with closed s-foils in the game named after it, and no amount of "but but but FUNCTIONALITY" neckbearding will persuade me otherwise.

TIE Avenger and Assault Gunboat.

I mean, he can try it... but there's that whole thing where humans can't survive in space... Explosive decompression doesn't help the idea of opening the hatch either. Meanwhile, those wings are literally designed to open and close...

What about an X-wing with landing gear down?

Sure, why not? I mean, if it's landing. Of course, this is in space, so unless the pilot did that by accident, it's not much point. Meanwhile, those wings are still literally designed to open and close...

Point is, it's thematic to the old game's interpretation of the S-foils; closing them shuts down the guns, diverting power to the engines/shields. Opening them redirects power back to the guns, losing the increased speed/shields. Considering this game takes a lot of cues from those ones, it makes sense in terms of being both a fix, and an alternate model. I mean, I don't see it happening, but I'd buy one if it was available. More than one if it was the source of the fix.

(You should rewatch TFA and pay closer attention as to why Poe closes S-foils and for how long he has them closed)

Mmmm, tasty tasty strawman.

Wookiee "AntiSlaver" Gunship (SW:Rebels)

"Shadow Caster" Black Sun Drop Ship (SW:Rebels)

Resistance Transport (TFA)

TIE/sf (TFA)

Epic: Jabba's Yacht/Minstrel-Class Cruiser

Honorable mentions:

Upsilon-Class Shuttle (Kylo Ren's Ship- TFA)

Guantlet Fighter (Mandalorian Protector- SW:Rebels)

Millenium Falcon (TFA)

Poe's "Black 1" X-wing (TFA)

As usual, the only thing I'm willing to predict is that no one's predictions will be completely accurate. (c:

IDK Vorpal, I'm pretty confident in my list.

I feel like the Aggressor could just as easily be a Title for the Advanced that allows it to equip a Dorsal Turret for free.

Sure, it COULD be. But I don't want it to be. It deserves it's own model.

I think that the TIE/sf might kill off any chance of seeing the TIE Aggressor. Rear arc/turret? Whichever way you go, they seem to tread on each others toes.

I don't. Aux Rear Arc and a Turret slot are two very different things. An aux arc can't ion token, or double tap or any of the other things various different Turret upgrades can do.

As long as the /sf is one and the /ag is another, they'll be two completely different ships.

Also, Aggressors don't have shields and may or may not have missiles, so either way, they're different from the /sf in a lot of other ways.

I think a sentinal shuttle would be really cool, and could add new things for the Imperials. I just want more diverse imperial builds, I will not give up on the Empire!

I'm expecting the "Rogue Shadow" for Imperials. It's about time to get the 1st large ship with cloak action....

It could be really nasty, imagine the shenanigans with Juno's dial

I think Slave 1 with the Illicit cloaking device is possible. Don't know how well it will do, but it sounds like fun to me.
