So my question is....

Which upgrade card triggers first? Say I'm flying Latts with Bossk crew and gunner. I take a shot and miss. Can I take a stress, a focus and a target lock and then use my gunner to take the shot again using the TL and focus? Or because gunner says "immediately" do I have to fulfill gunner without the perks of bossk?

They both have the same timing and are controlled by the same player. You get to choose the order you want to use them in.

I.e. you can use Bossk first, it is a legit combo.

Also note that Bossk doesn't require you to be unstressed in order to use him, so he only gives you a stress if you're not stressed already, but the rest of his effect works either way, which isn't always clear at first reading.

Page 8 of the Rules Reference, under the heading "Card Abilities":

If multiple abilities resolve at the same time, the player with initiative chooses which of his abilities to resolve and resolves them in the order of his choosing. Then the opposing player does the same for his own abilities.

Since Bossk and Gunner both have the trigger "After you perform an attack that does not hit...", they're clearly abilities that resolve at the same time.

So, since the Trigger is the same, you decide the order. I am curious as to what his rational is.

Basically he is saying because gunner uses the word "immediately" it needs to trigger first.

The immediately is there to keep you from "possibly" firing from a different ship with the same PS as the ship with gunner.
