Scum and Ordinance

By EeiddKlabe, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Scum has some of the best gunboats. Has ordinance been fixed enough to run them? I'm not sure. But knowing that many people run 3 ships or less, these might work. I call this list Banana Chips. I think you can swing in, fire missiles right away. Use target lock and guidance chips to modify the attack. Then you pretty much just die. But that's ok, because you can blow up on your enemies. If you survive, keep shooting, range one if you can.

N'Dru rolls by his lonesome to get 5 dice, so let him come in late if possible. You don't want him to loose that bonus, and you don't want him to get hit by dead man's switches

N'Dru REALLY wants Glitterstim/Lone Wolf/Cluster Missiles/Chips, for my money. Getting his pilot ability twice in a round is gravy, especially with that level of modification and only needing a single action to fire fully modified, and you want him to be your last ship alive; Lone Wolf makes him a capable if still fragile closer.

Additionally, dropping down to Concussions would let you bump your Binayres up to Black Sun Soldiers which lets you shoot your payload before TLTs which might be vey helpful.

At one point I was thinking of bumping them to black Suns and I couldn't find a reason to, but before tlt's is a good reason.

As for ndru, double lone wolf is awesome. I should have thought of glitterstem, but when you throw on clusters... That's brilliant. Maximize all those bonuses. I'll definitely switch that up.

I went ahead and entered this list into the squad builder and I found that one has to be binayre instead of black sun to make up that point.

This list looks super fun to me.

I think it should be solid, but very vulnerable to aces. I'd expect a single well-flown Soontir to be able to solo it. But fun, definitely.

How about Feedback Arrays instead of Dead Man's Switches?

Feedback arrays are cool. And probably would work, I was just thinking about how the Dead man switches hit in a range 1 burst. After the missiles are fired, I'd want to get in close for range 1 shots. This is risky and will likely get me killed. This way I can potentially hit more enemies. With feedback array I have to get hurt to use it, and once I'm dead, it's gone. I feel that ordinance, then primary attacks, then an explosion, lets me potentially deal more damage across the entire lifespan of the ship.

If you are in tight formation, you risk causing a chain reaction with Deadman Switch that could just nuke all your Zs. I'd go with FA to mop up any ship still alive after the missiles have gone off.

Personally though, I'd upgrade all the Zs to Black Sun Soldiers. I think Pirates will be less than ideal missile carriers. At PS 1 a lot of stuff is going to shoot before you. Good chances that you'll lose a Z before it even gets a missile off.

im not too worried about a chain reaction. If I'm in a tight traffic jam, I'll hit my enemy too. If I'm not in a traffic jam yet, it's my goal as the pilot to create the situations that best suit my own goals. That'll be the challenge.

Benefits over the FA are, I move early if not first, so I can position myself to block/explode. I don't have to survive untill the end of the combat phase to use the card.

I hope I'm not coming across as rude. Sometimes I can't tell. I was just attempting to explain my thought process. It will be worth trying both lists and see how it works on the table, instead of just looking at it on paper.
