2-dice TLT

By isthar, in X-Wing

What if TLT was two attack dice? Wouldn't it feel less... annoyingly everywhere? Feels like it would still stand to hit at a reasonable rate to be used by many, but also not so overwhelmingly. Friend's idea... after I was looking at Juggler's list charts for upgrade card popularity.. at http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/time_series

What if "in every freakin list except for TLT spam" aces were 2-3 PS lower?

That's the question I'm asking myself far more often.

What if the best abilities came NOT with highest PS?

ner, TLT would just be garbage

what you should be asking for is a buff to all the generics that can't hang against aces, minus crackshot ties because they already can

There really isn't much one can do to "tone down" TLT; reducing attack dice will put it with Blaster Turret, reducing the damage it can do would make it not worth the points, increasing the cost MAYBE could discourage taking so many, but already the maximum amount of TLTs I see in a list in my area is 1-2.

An idea I had was you had to turn 1 hit result into a focus when attacking with it, that way obstacles would be more dangerous for them.

I 'get' it from a gameplay perspective, but that's just dumb for lore reasons. However, it's already sometimes this way, Biggs is way better than Luke, who is clearly the better pilot. Also see:

Vessery vs. Rex

Chewie vs. Lando

Regarding the OP: 2 dice would be awful at 6 points, maybe if it were 3-4 points. It's unlikely to see a direct change though, FFG doesn't really like doing that (in this game). More likely we'll see ships/upgrades/rule tweaks that counter it show up, and it will become less popular.

If a fix is necessary, it might require more than just one change (i.e. decrease the damage output and the cost together).

I'm a dedicated brobot player and exactly the one responsible with or meta not being a TLT-fest.

and ace-fest. **** xD

digging yout own grave?

Oh no I got beaten by X, X needs a nerf, much?

no

Honestly kinda baffled by all the TLT attention on the forums

Here in NYC, they've all been brutalized to extinction via brobots and palp aces (and 1 crack swarm)

Seriously it's so stuffed with lists that routinely stomp TLTs that I was able to win a SC with a freaking punisher

If you want change you gotta be the one to initiate it. Pick up your Iggy fell hammer and go nuts

Was at an event with 12 (small amount) of players yesterday. NO ONE had TLT.

It's great, a brilliant card, but it doesn't need a nerf. And this always happens when a wave comes out. A few of the cards/pilots are 'EVERYWHERE' till the next wave/big thing.

TLT has staying power, but will die off a little too. Stop worrying people.

Are you also going to remove that pesky little thing where each attack can only deal one damage? That may make it more brutal against tough, but low agility targets, but with two attack dice it's going to struggle against high agility ships.

If you're going from "roll six dice for a maximum of 2 possible damage" to "roll four dice for a max of 2 damage" you've pretty much nerfed it away.

I'm not worried about its apparent ubiquity, but it does bug me that it's pushed out the 3atk jousters and any-other-turret.

Blasters sucked, sure, but I enjoyed the variety elsewhere.

havn't seen any 3atk jousters outside the B-wing since wave 5 dropped the infinite soul-sucking darkness on the game

so really, nothing has changed. we just swapped them out for TLTs, and seen some tie fighters reemerge as crackswarm

the other turrets were pretty ****

Group think. Once the overmind has identified a "problem", they won't let it go. People really don't realize the effect TLT has had on the meta. Which has been mainly good.

If it was 5 points cheaper it would be worth it :/

THIS!!! I think this is a great idea.

When they come up with pilot abilities, do they look at game balance or something that is a reflection of what a pilot could do in the books or TV show ie SW: Rebels? I think a lot of lists look at the top dude or dudette for the best ability/PS or go straight to the bottom of the barrel for point economy, the middle man misses out a lot.

Then TLT would fail at what it was designed to do, to end the reign of c-3po evade focus autothruster point fortress.

I think it is only a problem in scrub tier!

Hur hur hur! Get on mah level!

Isn't that Fortress called one thing and one thing alone? SOONTIR FELL? (without c3po)

ner, 35 points isn't much of a fortress

Still a tough nut to crack, if not the toughest!

Just change the range to 1-2, like the other turrets, problem solved.

2 dice would be meh. I'd rather it be something- "if the first attack hits, the second attack deals zero damage"

Only max one damage would be stomachable but you get the crazy tactician shenanigans.
