Game needs an index

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Just FYI in case one of you get's a wild hair when you get a copy:

1) The game needs an index right away

2) There needs to be a quick summary of the little rule things that matter (there's 'some fluff and I don't like having to underline stuff in the book).

Ha ha, I was so envious of you early testers, but not anymore.

You see, all the bumps and hiccups will be found by YOU guys, and will be resolved by the FFG and the forum community by the time I get MY copy of the game.

Fan made index, fan made cheat sheets... I will have it all before my first campaign. MAYBE even an official errata. ho ho

HA HA! I WIN IN THE END! +3 Fortune for ME!

I'm also going to introduce a nice new tool: Pencil and Paper. gasp! I know, chits are fun to mess with, but I'm going to track stress and fatigue with a PENCIL :)

Yes, Necro, you will have the benefit of that.

I think I'm getting old because learning this has been harrrrrrd. Muh' brain dunnut' werk so good no more ;)

Jay (Emirkol), did you get a chance to play it yet?

For frequently-updated numbers, I really like the idea of using nice-looking game pieces rather than doing lots of erasing with paper and pencil. If it eliminates the need for scratch paper, I'd probably be willing to give the bits-n-bobs a try.

afaik GMs don't need to track Fatigue and Stress.

I typically replace my FFG game chits (wounds/gold/etc) in their boardgame products with dice of a similar color. Keeps the clutter to a minimum and is usually faster than adding/replacing X# of counters each time.

Haven't people complained that there are already more than enough dice? :P

Seriously, think I'll steal your idea though (and pose it as my own).

Yea, just personal preference. I'm scheduled to run it to morrow. After that I'm all about speed and being able to move my arms across the table without scattering chits across the universe :) When we play descent, we have to do similar things.

I think that a nice GM Toolkit with a GM Screen would do the trick. Maybe in the coming weeks will here something about it.

I would like to second the index request. Looking up the rules in the table of contents has not been as easy as it should be. Reference sheets for the players and GM should have been there from the start. This is especially true with the list of maneuvers.

RE: GM's screen

Guaranteed I'm going to have made my own in the next week or so. Nice thing is that most of those rules are on those dark blue pages, but there are others that we'll need early. On the outside, I'm going to have the dice meanings, etc. until the group gets the hang of it.

I'm also going to standardize the dice additions for difficulty and challenge modifiers so that I have a /basis/ to go on instead of always re-inventing the wheel on the fly.

Another interesting idea I saw one of my players try in Descent: he printed his character sheet with Wounds and Fatigue numbers on the side of the character sheet, then he used paper clips to mark the value.

The RPG Serenity (based on the movie and Firefly series) sugests that (or it was from a discussion forum about it) and has the character sheets layed out acordingly.

I was thinking that since a character is pretty much ALWAYS going to be on the side of their most advantageous card that it could just go in a page-sheet with all the other cards and then just mark it with a post-it shred instead of trying to balance chits.
