I knew they were "listening" in... NEW ARTICLE UP

Which Punishing One downfall meme are they referring to?

I completely forgot about Eaden Vrill...

I think I'm really going to enjoy Wave VIII and the upcoming Imperial Veterans.

oh god the ships are beautiful

me want

"Frank: One thing we started to focus on more with Wave VIII was the idea of turret ships that care about arcs."

I completely forgot about Eaden Vrill...

Funny, I fought against one at a store champ last month. I wiped his gray squadron stress hog pretty hard, and then proceeded to use no less than 7 red maneuvers on my 2 T-70s...still won, barely. It was an awesome match.

I feel a disturbance in my wallet....

I'm caught between

1) Not spending money

2) Expanding on my collection with ships I don't have yet

and

3) Impulse buying all of Wave VIII as soon as it's released.

I have never been so excited for a wave!

did anyone else just scroll over thermal detonator just to see if they easter-egged it for us?

"Over the past weeks, we have taken a closer look at all the Wave VIII expansion packs and their contents... ...we even saw the early release of the T-70 X-wing Expansion Pack and TIE/fo fighter Expansion Pack"

Wow - considering the T-70 and TIE/fo were released back in December, Wave 8 (and this article) must have been delayed quite a bit from original expectations!

EDIT: Just wanted to say as well - (now we know the devs are keeping an amused eye on the forums) - MANY THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. I LOVE IT. LOVE IT ALL.

More than that: "Using turret ships to run away and fire from outside of arc won't always be as desirable in the future."

Extrapolating this statement from Frank combined with Alex's comment in that recent podcast about his desire to change out of arc shots, we can easily start a rumor that out of arc shots are indeed going to change soon.

Store Champs yesterday the store had Wave 8 on display.

The Ghost (VCX100) is HUGE!!! Makes the Decimator look like a Scyk.

Pardon me while I use this corner of the board to deploy.

If I look strait down and any part of your ship is underneath mine, you are at Range 1.

The Gozanti Attack Carrier (Epic only) is not much bigger.

The Phantom (attack Shuttle) is a separate model, but the ghost has the shuttle molded to its docking bay also.

No doubt someone will cut it apart and build a proper docking port for the shuttle model itself.

Did I mention the model is really big?

it's nice to have it confirmed that they are reading the forums. The no interaction policy is unfortunate, but I can understand FFG not wanting their employees tangling with some of the more colorful characters that frequent this site...

we see how well that worked in the World of Warcraft... the Herald of the titans almost blew up the world #ThanksYoggSaron

Wow...they didn't really say much about the TAP V/1.

I would be alllllllllllll for that.

I enjoy they are pushing turret ships towards keeping things in arc, but right now, there's not anything negative pushing them to keep things in arc outside of autothrusters. Dengar's ability doesn't make running from ships and making them chase any worse, it just makes keeping them in arc better. I think attacking the bore of turrets on both fronts is the way to go.

I don't like rebels, I have no knowledge of this inquisitor guy beyond his pilot rules at first I was just going to buy the scum ships.

The TAP is so obviously a good fighter I've ordered three even though the show its from is rubbish.

That says it all.

there kinda is, in the case of the more recent ships

for example

  • r3-a2 Y: out of arc capabilities --> no double stress
  • Tactician TLT K-wing: run specifically because the K is so excruciatingly inefficient. Without the tactician trick, it might never have seen play. Mind your arcs!
  • Non-Dengar Jumpsters: cost more than the K but keep the same crap primary; no access to TLTs :o Ordnance or bump or bust; any way you'll care a lot about your facing
  • Dengar: can PWT, but also isn't that great at it. See, unlike Han/Cheri, he doesn't get to action-independent offense and defense mod it up. He kinda needs that in arc shot to be as powerful as he can

this is really the best we can hope for to counteract the incredibly lazy PWT mechanic: make it crap so players actually have to make decisions. You either fly defensively and perhaps give up a great deal of offense, or you do your darndest to use your ships to max efficiency by keeping enemies in arc. It gives the controlling player a variety of options and the opposing player a reason to avoid arcs

Downfall is the name of that movie where Hitler rants that everybody cuts into amusing rants.

They've said before they read the forums, so they know what the community at large is saying. However, although we have our many opinions and are willing to defend them to a fault, it does not make us designers. Doesn't change their zero interaction policy, which I think exists for the better of the game and community.

Can you imagine a pre-nerf whisper paired with a tractor-wielding Vessery? Ugh.

If you don't know who the inquisitor is, you can't have an informed enough opinion to say the show is rubbish.

My own personal bias is that Rebels is the best Star Wars in _years_. It's very much worth watching.

Oh, the shenanigans that would ensue. I'm going to try this.

well Vessery would in every way fire after Whisper, so i see no issue.
