Silly Mass Combat question

By zypher, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Does Mass Combat talents have any application outside of mass combat?

So, I don't have Lead by Example and only know about mass combat what I've gleaned from these forums. I will pick up the book if I actually end up playing this character I'm thinking of.

I'm looking at Strategist/Analyst. Primarily for the sweet synergy for the squad based support he can provide (also have a hilarious/sad character concept, but I don't want to get distracted tellin ya all about that)

I see that you can avoid the Mass Combat stuff on the strategist tree, and what is there is enough to make the tree worth it to me. But I assume all those talents I likely won't be taking are useless outside of mass combat? I think the new specializations are great, but want to confirm that if the GM doesn't plan on large scale combat it's not worth it to take them?

Well, Strategist only has two pure mass combat talents, Clever Commander and Master Strategist. Ready for Anything applies too both mass combat and initiative checks, although it will only be worthwhile if your GM has a habit of adding setback to initiative checks.

I didn't realize that "Ready for Anything" applied to regular initiative.. just confirmed it and that makes this concept more alluring, thanks.. Though the other two will have zero bearing on non mass combat right? I'm just not sure my GM cares to include Mass Combat, and wanted to confirm that I should skip those entirely if that's the case.

Yeah, pretty sure they don't work outside of it.
