Special Modifications Species!

By Dr Lucky, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It looks like FFG must have released a sell sheet with the species names on it, because some retailers are starting to list them.

Dug

Besalisk

Mustafarian

Humorously, the Amazon page mentions "Basalisk" but that's presumably a spell check issue:

Unexpected, but not unwelcome. I am especially excited for the Mustafarians, and hope they have rules for both subspecies. For those disappointed in the choices, remember that we will eventually be getting a splat book for the Engineer for AoR.

Old news. I believe this info was brought up around January 29th in the other thread about the book.

No Jawa ?????

WTF...

No Jawa ?????

WTF...

C3P0 exerting his influence.

No Jawa ?????

WTF...

If you have a technician book and a sector book like suns of fortune but for the Tatooine region...Do you put the Jawa in the Technician book or the region book. You put them in the region book. As they make more sense there. And by doing that you leave an slot in the technician book for something else. Another region book for edge is due sometime in the near future I am sure.

I can't say as I've ever seen anything about the Mustafarians to draw my interest, but the other two species will be very attractive to some of my group.

And FFG listed it as Toys & Games again instead of Books.
They must hate their oversea buyers.

That's probably more Amazon than FFG. Amazon has some weird product category listings sometimes.

My reaction is more, "No Biths!?" I was really hoping we'd get Bith in the tech book.

Seriously Ugnaught, Biths and Jawas are traditional Tech races and nope not a one in the Tech book what is wrong with you people you should be protesting this...

We are getting Gungans before Jawas this is sick and wrong.

Wow. This is the first time I've seen a species list and not been interested in a single one. I can see some people being excited about it, but it just seems like such a weak group to me.

I'm happy with Besalisk because I want to see mechanically if they handle this 4 arm race like they did Xexto.

I'm confident they will get to the majority of the races in the yet to be released books.

Things like Bith and Jawa are too iconic to to ignore. I am interested in how the Mustafarians; a lot of untouched ground as far as gaming goes. And I like the idea that they're developing some of the more obscure species (especially some of the ones that debuted in the Prequels, like the Mustafarian, Aleena, Bardottans, and such).

No Jawa ?????

WTF...

THEY **** WELL BETTER BE IN A TATOOINE SOURCEBOOK  IF WE DON'T GET AN OFFICIAL JAWA RELEASE I'M GOING BACK TO COMPLICATEDCOMBAT D20!!!

(TBH we can just use WEGs Tatooine stuff)

Not going to lie, I'm really excited for the inclusion of Dugs. Depending on the stats, I think if I ever get to play instead of GMing, I might play one of them.

I really do want Bith to show up. I am happy about the Dug. As for Jawas and a Tatooine sourcebook, i could care less. That world has shown up in countless books, every character seems to go to the planet. It had been overused. Lots of people showing up on Coruscant? Fine, its the galactic capitol. Tatooine doesnt need to be used in every comic, game, novel, etc.

If a tatooine book came out i will probably wait till it is on sale. No rush for me. Jawas are kind of meh. Much like Mustafarians, races that seem locked to a single world seem to less desirable to those that go off their homeworld.

Or in the entire The Clone Wars series, for that matter. Or in Rebels.

Same goes for ugnaughts.

Personally, I'm glad for both Besalisks and Dugs. They're both pretty cool in my book!

There were several named Gungans in Episode I. How many named Jawas in any of the Episodes?

There is a named Jawa, a player character, in my campaign...

This is Rebel Era Star Wars... Episode 1 belongs in Saga and d20... ;) Just kidding. I would choose Jawa over Gungan any day, but people should play and enjoy whatever they like!

Pishaw. This is Star Wars - the Ice Cream Maker Guy on Bespin has a name (and 40 pages of backstory), and he was in the movie for an entire 15 frames. Of course every single Jawa has a name.

Now that's just mean...

... I like it :)

I can honestly say I am not a fan of any of these three species. So color me disappointed.

On top of that, I find it a bit annoying that all three choices came from the prequels.

Still crossing my fingers for a Devaronian in the bounty hunter book...
