The pilot flying those HWKs was gifted. I watched him take apart Jake/Poe/Gold without losing a ship. Solid flying, great planning.
Julian is a fantastic player

I had a great time at the Huzzah Hobbies SC. I played 3 rounds and had to drop but each round was against great sports who all embodied the the spirit of "fly casual."
If anyone here was at the store I was flying the 3 T-70 list.
My first match up was against a scum player with 2 TLT Y's, YV-666, and. pirate.
Second was my favorite game against another scum player flying Starviper, 2 pirates with feedback array, and a Y TLT with bomb load out. My opponent was super cool and fun to play against. He managed to execute a perfectly timed proton bomb to finish the game by killing off Poe and Ello in one nasty kaboom. Blue Ace hung in for another round but he was done in.
Last opponent was a very nice guy and a great sport. He played 2 interceptors, Omega Leader and Epsilon Ace. This was my closest game. In the end there was some incredible green dice rolls for Epsilon Ace to keep him in the game, Omega leader + Juke and Comms array was a nasty combo.
I don't think I could ever make it through a full day, 3 games is super taxing enough on my mind. But great to play against unfamiliar lists and fun opponents!
Thanks Huzzah!
Great to see someone make HWKs work! They can go down really fast.
Made it to 6th (of 40) and 7th (of 24) with a Rebel HWK :-) (3-1 record each).
But of course you'll have to fly them with a TLT because as others mentioned all other turrets suck in most situations.

Looks like those first two were Ben K. and Doug S. They are both great guys. Didn't see that 3rd list, so not really sure who that was. Glad you enjoyed it! Huzzah is a great store ![]()
oh, four hwks? yawn
everyone knows by now that every top 36 at worlds were 4 TLT HWKs. They're such a popular, skillless list that I'd need viagra to even begin to get excited about them
I mean really, they have TLTs which everyone knows is autowin because they took worlds, nationals, SCs and went back in time to pre-nerf phantom and took back Paul Heaver's championship trophy because they're just that OP. In fact, did you know the world champ was actually a newborn babe? TLTs let him win even though his undeveloped hands could barely handle the models

I heard they changed the format of worlds from playing X-Wing to who could hand in the most TLT cards in the shortest time span so they could sell more of the otherwise entirely useless and not at all interesting to play K-Wing.
Oh, just TLT's. Thought it would be interesting.
Yeah imagine if it was 5 HWKs with Autoblaster turret.
So has anyone started the petition to nerf HWK's yet?
I also had a great time at Huzzah Hobbies. It was my first store championship, and even though my Oicunn and Kir Kanos list was a little silly I improved each game, and had a great time. I look forward to playing and learning some more, and maybe flying my new Phantom in the near future.
I had such a great time I think my wife and a couple of buddies are going to come and play in the one upcoming in Woodbridge at Patriot Games.
I've flown a variant of that list for a while now. I call it the Dirty Birds. I us an Ion on torkul instead of a tlt
Very close to his. But his skill with flying those was amazing! He was a great player and skilled at Hawks for sure.
I've never got close to top 8 with it.

Receny attended a fund raising 3 round tournament for a state X wing team. For $20 a ship you could pick the list of the team members to fly that day. One of our better players was gifted 6 HWKs as his list.
He went 2 and 1 with the list, losing to a 3 YV 666 list. Not bad for 6 ships with only 1 attack dice each.
But wait I thought the hwk was desperately in need of a fix...
Or is that just rebel ones I lose track
You sir made my day.
Scumhawk is fine, only certain people who can't use them complain about them.
As I've mentioned ad nauseum, if i see Palob on the table, no matter what he dies first. There's a reason for this.
rebhwks aren't terrible either. Roark is noticably good.
What do you do with the extra point from ion cannon?
Munitions failsafe or Boba
joking, of course.
No, you could put an Intelligence Agent on a Hwk, could be very useful when flying 4 Hwks with their really restricted dials.
Maybe 4Lom or Zuckuss, although doubtful if they would be useful enough, maybe 4Lom to reliable kill off one target down to few hull.
Julian lost to Steve in swiss and in the finals. Julian did a great job with those HWKs, but Steve knew exactly where he needed to go to get into range 1, and which HWKs needed to die first (the Spice Runners!).

Agreed.
On a side note: You and Aaron did a superb job of commentary for the day. It was highly entertaining, especially the Ira Roast during his matches. Poor Ira.

Unless I misunderstand how he works, 4-Lom will be a great card for a TLT HWK
You can use him on both shots* and once you have the first ion token you don't really care about the second, because they'll both be removed the next round*.
* I might be wrong about either of these things!
