How do I rule on this? [Reference Thread] for T.O's

By Sergovan, in X-Wing

With the increase in new players and game popularity I am seeing more reports of odd tournament behaviour and missed rulings at tournaments.

What I would like to do is create an informal thread for T.O's to check on so they can be aware of what kind of bad plays players can make during a tournament and, hopefully, prepare a response should they encounter the same.

What I would like for the community to do is have other players, judges, and T.O.'s give their anecdote stories so that others may learn from the experience. There is currently no way to compile the reports that are happening at tournaments aside from one player posting it as a new thread on a forum and then everyone weighing in their opinions on it. It would take too long to search for them and reference them.

For this to work I would like for thread responders to apply the following rules when posting:

1) Give date/tournament location/level of tournament you were at (Casual/Store Championship/Regional/National/Worlds)

2) Just post the anecdote of what happened. Please, only witnessed infractions, no "from a friend through the grapevine stuff". Be as detailed as possible in what happened and what was said or done.

3) Please don't comment on the anecdotes. They'll get lost in the noise and bloat the thread. I just want the stories posted not the opinions on them.

This threads aim is try an compile type and frequency of the issues facing T.O.'s when it comes to making a ruling, how they handled a situation, or what they had to deal with.

It will be for reference use only.

You shouldn't be using an apostrophe when writing about more than one Tournament Organiser (T.O.).

There is an X-Wing Rules Questions section on this forum.

I am aware that there is a rules forum. That is for asking if a particular card or combo or interaction works the way it does.

This thread is for those anecdotal instances where players get tossed from the game or event, try to start a fight, destroy game components, flip tables, cheat, collude, heckle, steal, gamble, bribe, argue with a judge, harass a player, etc.

What this thread is for is for players, T.O. and judges to compile the types of infractions (real or perceived) they have witnessed and have had to deal with when running an event. What I am attempting to do is compile all the tournament infraction data into one source.

As far as I know this hasn't been done before.

Thank goodness, our community is by and large respectful. Seems to me that this tread is begging for trouble.

Every event, I point out that "Fly casual" means "Win or lose, you are responsible for giving your opponent a fun game so that our community keeps growing. If you get your fun at the expense of others, we don't need you here."
