Phantom without Ghost?

By Droidlover, in X-Wing

Sabine is fantastic. She's vary close to pre-nerf Phantom (the real one) level.

Sabine - barrel roll and boost give her a LOT of options on where she's going next.

PTL - boost THEN barrel roll (always in that order!!) give her a LOT MORE options on where she's going next, with added versatility if you don't need to reposition.

Kanan - you can now use ANY of her white moves after your PTL from her ability. Just assigning a straight maneuver can be enough, considering her boost/barrel roll shenanigans. This will keep her out of most arcs AND able to trigger her turret...

TLT - use her ability to be more-or-less anywhere to maintain range 3, shouldn't be difficult.

And Ezra with PTL, TLT, Chewie, and Hull Upgrade is such a PIA. ... Though I still like him with Kanan for the maneuverability.

Chopper with Zeb crew, and either anti-pursuit lasers or the ion thingy. Dorsal Turret couldn't hurt.

We're talking attack shuttles. Chopper only pilots the large ship.

I can't speak for the game since I don't have this yet not have I looked at it online. In the show however Chopper pilots the shuttle all the time.

I agree that sabine is amazing, but the biggest thing keeping her from being totally OP is that she's only PS5, so she can't arc-dodge all the aces.

Edit: Whoops, double post

How about this?

With Kanan Sabine is actually more maneuverable than a TIE Interceptor and with PTL as two actions. Sabine gives her a consistent three actions. I know Soontir get four and double focus but he doesn't have a turret.

Sabine Wren (21)
Push the Limit (3)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Phantom (0)

How so? He gets 2 actions from PTL + a free focus from the stress for 3 actions, same as sabine gets if she PTLs off the boost/br. She can still get focus/evade, she just can't get double focus and has less agility. And lower PS means she cna't arc-dodge as many people.

Sabine is like the Rebel's version of Guri. She'll be able to absolutely murder generics, but not do a whole lot against higher PS ships unless you get lucky and guess where they end up. She can equip a turret which gives her a decent option to handle higher PS ships who manage to dodge arcs. That also paints a larger target on her.

Hmm, I miss counted. Then perhaps Sabine is the Rebellions version of Soontir and with Kanan perhaps even more maneuverable. Not sure about when the actions are allowed compared to when the stress is removed.

Can't wait for this thing to arrive in the mail. MAAAAAYBE Saturday?

I like Sabine with TLT, Juke, and IA.

Before Sabine reveals a maneuver she can elect to barrel roll or boost.

She picks one.

Then she uses PTL to do another action from the Shuttle's list.

Then she becomes stressed.

Then she reveals then maneuver and executes it - if it is green it clears the stress. If it is white, Kanan can elect to clear the stress (or not, as he might clear stress from another ship). If it is red, bad things happen as Sabine is stressed, so your opponent choses the move.

Assuming it is green (or white and Kanan is activated), Sabine then clears her stress.

She can elect another action, either from the shuttles action bar, or an equipped card.

End of Sabine's activation.

well if you're stressed and your opponent chooses the dial they can only select a white/green move. and with Kanan on board its also a 'free' Int Agent... I forgot the forum post, but someone made a great post last year or so about the strategy behind making a red move while stressed.

You could exchange Kanan for Kyle Katarn, if you're going to clear stress every round. And Kanan also works at a distance, so he doesn't strictly have to be in the shuttle.

Excellent point - so you could pick a red, but I don't see why you would.

True, but it limits you to greens unless, as you say, Kanan is close by - but I feel that Sabine will be jetting around, so not always likely?

Kanan is pretty limited in range and it is better to stick him to target ship.

Its hard for me to build an Attack Shuttle without Chewbacca as crew. He basically gives you a 3/2/3/3 stat-line for 4 points. The only time he does nothing is if you are sitting there shield-less and the enemy pushes 3 hits against you in a single attack.

Chewie would keep you alive in the situation.

He triggers on being dealt a card, not after the attack.

"When you are dealt a Damage card, you may immediately discard that card and recover 1 shield.

Then, discard this Upgrade card."

If your shuttle was sitting at 2 hull and had three hits go cancelled, it would go like this:

- Opponent deals first card.

- Chewbacca triggers.

- Shuttle now has two hull, and one shield.

- Shuttle suffers the second damage stripping the shield token.

- Card is dealt for third hit.

- Shuttle is now at one hull.

What about:

Sabine 21

VI 1

Lando 3

EI 3

Autoblaster Turret 2

For a total of 30 points

I like Sabine with TLT, Juke, and IA.

This is what I was planning on too, though I haven't actually tried it yet (Hurry up Thursday!). For me, Sabine looks by far the best of the Attack Shuttle pilots if you're going to run one independently from the Ghost.

As already pointed out its aces that will wreck her even with VI, that's a third of your points in four hit points she can't arc dodge Vader and your using her action on defence via lando so your limited to focus as taking TL puts you at the mercy of green dice which is fatal.

Same issue the headhunter has it gets less efficient the more points you pile on.

So after the comment about Chopper only flying the Ghost I went and looked at the cards online. I now understand the comments since you only get chopper as a crew and Ghost pilot. I gotta say I am a bit dissapointed about that. Thematically he rarely flys the Ghost, but flys the Shuttle quite a bit.
