Anyone got an idea how to remove a stuck peg from a Gonzanti doking clamp?

By Admiral Deathrain, in X-Wing

It happened to me, wanted to remove one of my FOs from the clamp and the peg snapped of cleanly, without much force on it (it was one of the core set FOs, I suspect them to be of slightly lower production quality). I know some people had similar things happen, so I thought I'd ask if someone has an idea how to remove that peg.

I know I could contact customer service and they'd be glad to help, but it is such an easy fix because of how cleanly the peg has snapped of that I'd rather remove it from the clamp and glue it back on instead of receiving a whole new model + clamp. Should I just try to glue it into place on the stuck peg, let it dry and then remove it or is that too risky?

Pray to whatever you find holy, then super glue a small base ship peg to the broken bit and pull it out that way

then if that doesn't work time to upgrade to magnetic docking clamps..

Stick with the FFG people if you want it fix correctly.

If your a DIY I personally would look around to see if you can attach magnets to the Gonzanti and to the clamp long before I would glue it into place. I am very fear full of doing what you just did.

There is enough wiggle room to do it with a needle or Xacto, no glue required. Had to spend a few minutes fiddling on this for a friend a month ago.

I used pliers.

You could also use a hand powered hobby drill, most game shops have them for like $6.

Drill it, drop a tiny bit of glue in, stick a needle in, let it harden and pull it out. I've done this a few times when I want to make sure I don't bust the receiver peg.

Had the peg holder break off a tie fo aswell from basically putting it down on the table. Got it out with a needle without much fuss, then reattached it with plastic glue. Havent had any issues with it since.

I have already done this - worked fine for me.

This one. Depending on the softness of the material, the drill bit itself might have enough bite to pull it out.

Smaller the bit the better. 1mm might actually be slightly too large. Dremel sells a miniature bit set that has a 1/32

But if there is anything still sticking out, some sort of pliers is the best bet.

Basically the same thing happened to me with one of my fo's.

Thing is, it was one of the kids at work that happened to do it.

And she did it like 5 minutes after I had told them all that if they broke a ship, they'd have to pay for it.

She was completely stunned and promised to pay the next day, but I told her that it wasn't her fault and she needn't worry. But the stunned look on her face... that poor girl.

Did that one come from the core set as well?

I do have the suspicion that for core sets the standarts are slightly less strict. From the old core all of my TIEs are warped while none of the expansion or Gonzanti ones are. I thought thy had solved the problem with the new core because all of my stuff and any that I have seen from other people looked fine, but maybe they just moved it.
